Egyptian soldiers and police set fire to tents in the middle of Cairo's Tahrir Square and fired tear gas and rubber bullets in a major assault Sunday to drive out thousands of protesters after two days of clashes.

At least three people have been killed, according to Egyptian doctors. Mahmoud Said, a doctor at the nearby Munira hospital, said the bodies of two men were brought to the hospital on Sunday evening, while Mohammed Qenawy, a doctor at one of two field hospitals in the square, said a male protester in his early 20s also was killed.

This is horrible! they should have the right to protest at least peacefully. What would you have done if someone was burning down your tent and you did nothing wrong?

  • They may have been doing more than just protesting peacefully for the soldiers and policemen to kill two people. Still the people that got killed may not have been the unruley people supposedly doing things wrong to get punished for.

  • i dont think they should of burned the tents of the protesters. i think they should have a freedom of speech.

  • Why would you burn the tents. You could kill the people inside. Why not let the people protest as long as their peaceful.

  • i think..this is a touchy subject. people think protesting should be perfectly fine and harmless..and some dont but it just depends if its harming someone and if its legal..

  • oh my gosh! this is crazy!  i don't see what was so wrong that they had to set fire to their tents.. they don't have to get so upset! it's not like they were extremely threatening anyone..

  • Egypt is not the US...so they have different laws
