Egyptian archaeologists Make Huge Discovery

Just recently, Egyptian archaeologists have made a big discovery, uncovering 30 Ancient wooden coffins. Every one of  them had a mummy inside. Most of the bodies were male and female adults, however two of them were children. They knew whether they were male nd female because of the way the hands were carved. If they were open hands, it was female, and a closed hand coffin belonged to a male. They were also preserved extremely well, with colors and symbols on all of them easily visible. They were also said to be 3,000 year old coffins. Over the last century, many of the major finds in Egypt were lead by foreign archaeologists, so this was a very important find for the Egyptian Archaeologists. It was also an important find for them because it will give them more information on what the Egytians beleived about the afterlife and burial rights.

1.) Do you think this discovery was important for the Egytian Archaeologists?

I think this discovery was important for these Archaeologists. I feel this way because they hadn't made any big discoveries over the last century, and many of the big discoveries were made by foreigners. WIth this discovery, it gave them more recognition as archaeologists.

2.)Do you think the Discovery was important for a further understanding of Ancient Egypt?

I think this discovering was very important for the knowledge we have on Ancient Egypt.  I think this was important because with so many coffins of different genders, ages, and people from different classes, it shows that Ancient Egyptians respected everyone.

  • Good job overall Zane! Be sure to ask a follow up question to yes/no questions.

  • Definitly this discovery is very important, because as much we found such artifacts we get closer and closer in understanding life of ancient civilizations such as ancient Egypt. When we make this kind of discoveries first thing that openes is that we get answers for questions that we couldnt find the answer for a very  long time and the second is that we know more about what kind of life, government, culture and economy did ancient civilizations have.

  •  I think this was a very important find for the archaeologists because this probably brought a lot of attention to Ancient Egypt and maybe it even attracted it visitors and tourists to come to Ancient Egypt to tour the area of where the coffins were found.

  • I think it was improtant becasue like you said they hadn't made very many big discoveries recently. I think it was important for  further understanding becasue it shows that no matter who it is women, child, men, old people, they respected everyone enough to bury them.

    • Yes, I agree with you and beleive that this discovery could help to show and unveil some of their practices of respect for everyone, not just royalty. This was also a major discovery for Egytian archaeologists as they haven't made a big discovery like this in almost a century.

  • I think this discovery is important for the scientific community because it shows that there is still stuff out there to be discovered by achaeologists. I think it was very important find for the archeologists because it shows that not just kings were buried with honor normal people got buried in coffins too.

    • I liked your point that this discovery helps to prove that there is still plenty of other ancient things to be discovered by archaeologists. I agree with you when you say they treated not only royalty with respect and honor, but they treated normal people with the same values as well.

  • I think that this is a huge discovery not just for the people who found it or the place it is going to go, I think that this is an amazing discovery that Archaeologists should be know about it. I think that this will help people learning about the Ancient Egypt, to know more about it and that could also help people find more tombs and what might be in there.

    • Yes, hopefully this discovery will lead to other discoveries, and possibly drop hints of where other mass burial spots are such as this one. These burials could also uncover some things we don't already know about how the Egytians treated the dead.

  • This discovery is definitely important for Egyptian archaeologists since most Egyptian discoveries are found by archaeologists from other countries. I'm not sure if these will help further understand Ancient Egypt, but it should. More things from that time period can lead to more insights as to their beliefs, but we may just find what we already know.
