Geologic record shows that the earth's magnetic field flips every 250,000 years. the last one was 800,000 years ago. This could have a large effect on earth. The magnetic field is the only thing that keeps earth from having an environment like mars. What do you think of this?

if the magnetic poles did shift, every once and a while when it happens, it can be very rapid... this overdue shift has the recipe to be a rapid one, and if that were to happen, the would could quite possibly be a global catastrophe. almost any piece of technology would be thrown out of sync with the global network, and all technology would have to be re-engineered to fit the pole shift. this could quite possibly be a disaster, but let's hope it just doesn't happen in our lifetime...
well, this is very scary, although science can not completely predict the future patterns in nature because well it's nature, it does what it wants. There are no rules saying that the magnetic field around earth has to flip, If there were, earth would probably not follow them because it's just a rebel like that.
Well, obvousily we can't live on Mars. So we should be thankful if that's the only think that keeps us from being like Mars. I don't think it will make all that diffrence. I mean, it takes so long, we wont notice a diffrence.
Well the magnetic field flipping would probably cause a few problems because it gets weaker when it flips. I think I remember somewhere saying it takes a long time to flip so it shouldn't bother us too much
