Eagles vs Drones

There are positives to advances in technology, but there are also negatives. Drones can be used in many ways, but often times they are used to invade other people's privacy. Police in Holland have discovered a possible solution to this problem. They have trained eagles to retrieve these drones. The specially trained eagles swoop in and grasp the UAV's (Unmanned Aerial Technical) in there talons before landing with their prey. Other possible solutions to the UAV's have included larger drones that are capable of disabling smaller ones and the US military has developed a laser cannon to destroy the drones.

Questions:

Do you think eagles should be trained to take down drones? Why or why not?

Is there a better solution to the drones other than training eagles? Explain.

My Opinion:

I think it is a smart idea to train these eagles and use there abilities to help keep citizens safe. With that said, I'm not sure if eagles are the most efficient way to deal with the drones. The UAV's aren't a nation wide problem, so I'm not sure how urgent this issue is. Also, the eagles would have to be taken out of their natural habitat and put into cities and areas that this is more of a problem.

Eagles could be our best defense against drones

  • I think is a good idea to do this but I also think that the eagles shouln't be use for this. Maybe they can find another way to destroy these drones. For now I think is a good idea but they should think about something else to do.

  • I think that it is a great idea, it keeps all of us safe from them! I feel like this would be the best way! It could be another bird maybe, but I can' t think of anything else to do it !

  • I think it is a good idea to take down the drones, but if we are doing it, other countries will be doing the same. I can't think of any other ideas as to taking down the drones other than the animals.

  • I absolutely do not agree with using eagles to destroy these drones, eagles are not supposed to be used as something to get rid of what somebody else wants to get rid of. A better solution would be to stop making these stupid drones, I think that the United States makes a lot of things and then when they sell a ton of these things and people are using them to see what other people are doing it just makes no sense. Quit making these drones and their wont be a problem.

  • I don't agree with using eagles for finding drones because there is already technology that can disable them instead. Using laser cannons would be a better option in my opinion

  • As far as we know, drones have not invaded other people's privacy, but they could definitely be used for that. Drones are very expensive, and could possibly hurt the eagle if it tries to take it down.

  • No I do not think they should be training eagles to attack drones as the eagle may be injured.

they should get a satellite to target the drones and like jam it or something

  • I don't think it is that bad of an idea but it depends on the circumstances. Some people fly drones just for fun and have them to fly around. Other people have them to invade other peoples privacy. You wouldn't want to take down a harmless drone flying around. Drones are very expensive and people might get mad if there expensive drone gets damaged or possibly destroyed. I think that they could be trained to take down drones that are causing trouble.

I think that maybe in order to fly a drone around, there might need to be certain regulations so people know what not to do. If they break these laws and cause problems than I would say you could take action. I might try a not so destructive approach first like possible just being able to take control over a drone so you could take it back and then maybe give the people a warning or a fine. They could also make registration for these drones so if they take a drone that was causing trouble, they could trace it back to a owner.

  • I don't think it's a good idea and I don't know what they would need this for and I think they will eventually make laws about these drones,
