Drone footage shows aftermath of camp fire in California

A drone captured a video of a forest fire's destruction in California that began on November 8th. 77 people have already died and more than 151,000 acres of land have been burned. This week, California is supposed to get 4 to 6 inches of rain. This will help put the fire out, but could also cause mudslides. The main concern is that most of the firefighters are working on dirt roads and trails. With the concern of mudslides also comes the risk of debris flow coming from the rubble. Since the fire started, it has burned down more than 11,700 homes and has tourched a area the size of Chicago.

1. If you were a firefighter, would you risk you life to fight this fire even with mudslides?

2. If Iowa had forest fires, where would you leave to?

  • Great job replying Cass! Be sure to include personal thoughts within your summary as it is worth 6 points. Also be sure to capitalize key words in your title.

  • If I were a firefighter and had the proper training I would do as much as I can, including risking my life, to fight the fires. If Iowa had forest fires I would stay until it was absolutly neccisary to leave, probaly to Nebraska.

    • I think that the even if the fire was big and in the area, I would still help becas+e that is why I signed up to be a fire fighter.

  • Yes, if I was a firefighter I would risk my life to fight the fire. That is part of the job for a firefighter, dealing with big fires you are risking your life for others' safety. If Iowa had forest fires, I would probably just go back to Arizona to get away from the fires.

    • I agree, you should know what you are getting into if you become a fire fighter.

  • Yeah I would help because the fire isn't going to just stop whenever it feels like it. If I had the training for it, I would be needed to help. I would probably leave then come back when they were over because Iowa is where I am from and I can't see myself living anywhere else.

    • I like your answer because I can't see myself moving out of Iowa either. I would rather stay and help people in need rather than run away.

  • I would because I have recieved the proper training and it is my job. If Iowa had foreset fires, I might go to Florida because I have family down there and it is pretty distant from Iowa and probably safer.

    • If I also had the training, I would stay and help.

  • yes because thats the job i signed up for. I would try to help as many people as I could even if I risk my own life. I would go live my family in an other state and hope everything turns out good.
