When category five Hurricane Dorian hit the Abacos Islands and Grand Bahama Island a week ago it tore many cities and families apart. At least 70,000 people are homeless right now in the Bahamas. The death toll is now at 43. The search and rescue teams are still looking for the hundreds that remain missing. The people that have survived Hurricane Dorian are trying to evacuate. They stated in the article that, "About 1,400 evacuees arrived Saturday morning in Palm Beach, Florida, aboard the Grand Celebration of humanitarian cruise ship." The thousands of families that still remain in the Bahamas are trying to evacuate until it is safe to come back. Click here to read more about the article.
If you were in a hurricane what would you do?
I would try to protect my house and family as much as I could.
If you were one of the hundreds of people that are missing what would you do?
I would just try to survive and look for search and rescue crews.

Well done overall Ben. I do think your questions could be stronger, especially the second one.
My first Priority would be family and friends and then posesions.I would do my best to servive but if I was dead I would just sit and decompose.
1 - I'd pack up and leave. I'd rather be alive and deal with the aftermath than have to be injured or killed possibly. Weather channels give you the chance and opportunities to leave before the storm hits and it would be wise for most people to leave. However if I couldn't leave, I guess I would just have to bear down and hope for the best. After all, you can't ever know what'll happen when hurricanes are coming.
2. I would most likely try to find rescure crews and shelter. Being around torn down homes isn't safe, let alone any of the surrounding areas. So the safest bet would be to find shelter and help and hopefully find away to get restarted.
I would definetely try and get my family's posessions locked away in a very high point that may stay dry in the house if your lucky. I would have me and my family go to a place off the coast where the hurricane isn't hitting and wait the storm out. I would stay exactly where I was as long as it was still safe and wait for someone to come and get me.
If I was In a Hurricane I would put boards on my house and windows and leave the house however I would take my valuables with me and go somewhere where the storm is not going. Even thought its nearly impossible to have a hurricane in Iowa.
Try to get out the secound I hear about one coming towards us. Try to get to a high area where a helicopter could see me and try to light a signal fire or just make me noticable to be seen.
I would find someplace safe and take my family there, I would try and find my way back by searching around and maybe looking for rescue crews
If I were in a hurricane I would try to evacuate as soon as possible but if it was too late I would try to find a safe nearby place. if i were one of the missing people i would try to survive and try to find people and stick to them.
I agree with you about trying to evacuate and if you can't then find a safe place. I also agree with you about trying to survive and trying to find others.
If my state/town was about to be hit by a hurricane I probably would have evacuated my state and moved somewhere inland until the storm passed. If I could not leave my state or island I probably would board up my house and make sure I have all the proper supplies to wait out the storm. If I was one of the missing I would try to find familiar places that I recognized and find help.
