During the week of Oct 25th- Oct 31st there was a report of a pilot whale seriously injured but with no attacker in sight.
Upon further inspection of the injured pilot whale experts are saying that it very well could have been an attack by a group of bottle nose dolphins. The marine biologists noticed many bite marks on the three year old female whale and compared the bite marks to those of a bottle nose dolphin and found a very close resemblance in size in shape of the bite.
The injuries were so bad in fact that the whale had to be euthanized due to her injuries.
Questions:
1. Do you think that dolphins would do something like this based on your current knowledge of them? Explain.
2. Do you think that since these dolphins attacked one whale do you think they'll attack more? Explain.

I do not have much knowledge of dolphins, but I could understand them doing something like this if dolphins and pilot whales usually do not get along. If they attacked one, there is a pretty good chance this could happen again.

I think that they would only if provoked because when you hear about them from people athat work with them that they are a caring animal and don't ever hurt anything or anyone otherwise we wouldn't be able to swim with them.
Yes they are very smart and could do something like this, yes they were probably working like wolves attacking in packs.
It is possible that dolphins could have done this, but it is possible that the whale could have been attacking them, or the dolphins tried to defend themselves. I don't know much about marine life, but there isn't a lot that you can do to change situations like this.
I believe dolphins could have done this, dolphins are known to be very protectful. The whale might have been trying to eat one of the young dolphins, or perhaps the whale was "bullying" the dolphins by swimming into them and the dolphins had enough of it and killed the whale. The dolphins could do it again if they felt they had to.
I feel like the dolphins didn't do it,but they are capable of it. Dolphins seem like they are very calm and gentle creatures and wouldn't hurt another animal. If they did I think they might come back for more because they felt threatened in that area.
I don't really know much about marine life, but dolphins are told to be intelligent and peaceful. So it's hard to see what could've done it to the whale but by the looks of it, it seems like it could've been the dolphins.
I agree, but dolphins have sharp teeth that could severely injure a human or another animal like this whale.
