Dog needs 1,000 stitches after California stabbing

An animal group says that a dog needs around 1,000 stitches after a stabbing in California. Not only was the dog from Los Angeles stabbed, it was also beaten. Police said that the pit bull mix was cut with a knife and hit with a shovel. It was located in south Los Angeles and the act was likely a person acting in self-defense. The Ghetto Rescue Foundation said that veterinarians closed wounds to the dog's head, neck, ears, mouth, and torso. The dog is expected to make a full recovery. Cops say that their investigation shows that the act was not animal cruelty, it was more an act of self defense. They believe the dog was on the loose and in attack mode. They do not yet know who hurt the dog.

How would you have reacted to this situation?

  • Great job Molly!

  • well if i saw this happening i would call the pound to get some help

  • Well to react i would need a better understanding as to how the accident happened. But i would be very upset.

    • What would you do back to the dog?

  • If the dog was attacking someone, then you could try to fight back in self defense. But you would have to call the pound or someone to come get a dog, especially if it is attacking people, or you would have to go to the ER if you got hurt.

    • Why do you believe that you need to call the pound?

  • I understand that if a person were getting attacked by a pit bull, they would want to fight back. At the same time though, I don't think a single person could take on a breeded attack dog. If this wasn't just a guy attacking a dog, it was a gang abusing one.

    • Why do you believe that not one single person could take on this dog?

  • I would have reacted by hitting it once to try and scare it off or ran into my house and call a pound to come get it. I wouldn't of taken it to the extreme by stabbing and beating it almost to death.

    • Why would you not take it to the extreme?
