On December 30 in 2019, a doctor named Li Wenliang in China sent a very important message in his medical school group chat that is called MeChat. It talked about 7 patients that had a SARS (a very bad respiratory virus) and were the first cases of the virus and were in the hospital they were working in. He said to his friend to tell loved ones but in hours the message was leaked and got punished. However, this is not the end. Later he was diagnosed with the same virus he was trying to save people from. The reason why he got in trouble is that China wants to keep the news about the virus out of the public.

I think it is a bad idea because if people don't know about it, they won't protect from it.

On my opinion one can understand China. They obviously wanted peolple stay calm and not to panic. Even if they would tell people they could not get rid of the virus. With this virus China lost lot of money and people.
No I don't think it's a good idea for China to keep information like that to themselfs. If they did that then no one would know of the virus and we would not be able to contain it and alot more people would have it before it was found out. No I don't think he should be punished he was trying to prevent the virus from spreading to other people and being alot worse then what it already is.
I don't think that China should have kept quiet about this because if a transitible virus is that deadly, then everyone in the area should be informed of the virus. I don't think that Li Wenliang should be punished because he was just trying to warn everyone of the potential virus, that could possibly kill people.
I also think it is not very smart to keep the virus a secret, because the other countries can’t prepare for it, when it is spreading, like the case right now. I do not think either, he should get punished because in my opinion he made nothing wrong.

I do not think that it is a good idea to keep the virus secret. The whole world needs to know about it and the dangers of this virus. And the virus also needs to be contained in china and not spread anywhere else. The last thing the world needs now is a new virus contaminating the world. Li Wenliang should not be punished because he was only trying to get the word out about the virus and he already got it from the patient. That is already more punishment then he needs.
