Pollution is something that we have been hearing about for a long time, but in the past few years it has gotten worse. According to the State of air, 40% of Americans are living in a place with unhealthy levels of particle pollution. All this pollution can come from driving your vehicle, industries, wildfires, etc. One of my thoughts on pollution is how it reacted to Covid. Because first I think about how everyone needed to stay in their houses, this means you can’t go to your work, you don’t use your car, some industries stop working and flights decrease, all of these were things that generated pollution. This made that in some cities the air quality improved.
My second thought was that we had to add something else to our everyday routine if we wanted to go outside and what I’m talking about is a mask. Millions of people started using masks, but specifically disposable face masks, which means you use it for a day or for some hours and you throw it away. Imagine all the pollution masks have made. A study made by OceansAsia estimated that over 1.5 billion masks are believed to be in the ocean. Also with all the pandemic situation we needed to use way more medical stuff than we were using in the past. All this medical stuff generates more trash which at the end would create more pollution. I think Covid increased pollution more than decreased it.
Some ways that you can help the planet are by getting solar panels. The only problem with this is that not everyone can get them because they are expensive, you can also stop using plastic bags and replace them with cloth bags or tote bags, these are an easy way to stop the use of plastic. Another way is no more plastic straws. I think that places that are specifically on the coasts are starting to change this and try something more ecologic like paper or bamboo. Straws were usually found in the ocean and in animals which sometimes caused their death, this caused governments to take action on this, in some cities plastic straws are banned such as Washington, Miami and Malibu. I think governments should give more importance on making small changes that can give big results. I think they need to promote more about the importance of this, and how we are going to kill our planet if we continue like this.

Do you think covid helped to reduce or increase pollution?
Do you think plastic bags should be banned?
Do you think the government should do more initiatives to help reduce pollution?

It could be looked at both ways. You don't drive or go out when you quarantine and also when people die global warming doesn't go up as fast. The other point is factories are polluting the air when making masks, gloves, gowns and other medical needs.
I agree with you it depends on which type of pollution we are talking about.
I feel that the type of pollution is a huge factor that plays in this. I say this because many people stopped using their cars and some businesses shut down. However, online shopping went through the roof during this time as people could not go out. So I feel that the pollution of diesal trucks used to deliver these packages to people increased greatly. I also feel that plastic bags should not be banned, because you can never get rid of them, but slightly decreased and I think that stores should go back to asking if you want paper or plastic. Just because it gives people an option and it would make the production of plastic bags go down just a little bit.
I think it slightly increased the pollution of plastics and things because of how many people got takeout and had to get different ways of getting food and things. I do not think plastic bags should be banned although I do think we should try to reduce the amount of plastic bags as much as possible. I think of the governement did put a lot more time and effort into fixing ur pollution problems we would see a huge change.
I agree that plastic bags should be reduced, and not banned. It just makes more sense to reduce them than just get rid of them period because its not realistic. I also agree with you that the government should put more effort into finding more ways to reduce pollution and just make this world a cleaner place.
I think reducing will not be a great idea because at the end people would not care and will still use the same quantity of plastic bags, but I think they are more ways to try to reduce pollution with some changes in our everyday.
I think it's determined on what kind of pollution you put it as. If it was air pollution covid would've decreased it but also with an increase in trash and other expendable items such as plastics. I don't think plastic bags should be banned because most families have other uses for them.
I agree with you saying that it depends on which type of pollution. If we are talking about air pollution I think it decreased, but if we are talking about water pollution I think it increase way more.
I think It decreased pollution just the slightest bit because many people didn't go out or still don't. Well it depends on whether they should be banned or not because they are used so much and for some people it would be pretty hard to just stop using them. I definitely think that the government should take more initiatives to reduce pollution because that could really help.
I agree with you that the government should come up with more initiatives that can reduce pollution because if we don't change now there will be no more time to do it in the future.
