A charter school is a school that receives government funding but still operates separately from state established schools. The point of a charter school is to provide more opportunitites for students, parents, and even teachers, in the hope to improve and increase learning opportunities for students, especially for those who identify as academically low achieving. They provide more options for educational opportunities.
Charter schools have the ability to specilalize in particular areas, giving students classes that match with their interests. This often helps students become more invested in their education. At a charter school they still have to follow the major regulations and laws that a traditional public school does, but they can devote more energy and resources into something to help students achieve their goals. These schools often have smaller class sizes, allowing students for more on-one-one to get the help they need.
Although charter schools sound pretty good, there are some cons. Most charter schools are pretty small, and there have been many cases of charter schools lacking quality education that some may need, especially children with disabilities. They can also be more selective with their students. Parents also need to be more involved in the school and are sometimes asked to donate large amounts of money. The research shows that charter schools are lacking innovation, which was the main goal for them.
I personally don’t support charter schools. Although it is true some of them show positive research, the majority of them show that they are having a negative impact on students. Instead of spending government money on charter schools, we should be spending it to improve our public schools. We are wasting money on something that is lacking innovation, and is doing nothing to help our community. I just don’t think our government should be supporting any type of privatized schools.
Do you support charter schools? Explain why or why not.
Do you believe that charter schools are more effective or ineffective on a childs education?
In the future, if you had to make a decision on whether or not you would send your child to a charter school, what would you choose?

Great topic choice and well written summary Addison! The big issue is that you didn't reply to any student comment which is worth 30 points.
I personally dont agree on charter schools. I say this because I feel that a child should be able to expierence the social aspect of a normal school. Because charter schools are normally small, it is hard to branch out and figure out your roll in society. I feel that socializing plays a huge roll in what you want to do when you are looking for a career, and if you go to a place with few people it can be hard to really figure out what you want to do in your educational career.
I believe that charter schools really wouldn't affect many people besides those who attend, As someone who would not go or send my child to a charter school, I don't really mind what happens with them. I believe they could be affective but to only some.
I think it would be a good idea if your kid is smart and above average for his class or if your child already knoes what he wants to do when he grows up. Otherwise I don't think it wouldn't be good especially if the teachers don't have the quality needed. I personally would not send my kid to a charter school.
I don't really have an opinion on charter schools because they don't affect my everyday life, but I think the government should spend money on more important things in our country. I think that the effectiveness of a charter school depends on the school becuase some of them actually do help students education. I would never send my children to a charter school because thats pointless; they can go to a public school like almost everyone.
I think the givernment should give the same amount to every school per capita or x amount of dollars for every kid. We need to have all people educated so that poverty levels go down. And they should have to follow rules like other schools.
I agree with you and I do not support charter schools. If they aren't even giving them the right education needed what's the point. I feel like they might be effective for one on one and learning what each students strenghts and weaknesses are but on the educational level I do not think so. I wouldn't send my child to a charter school because I also believe that it's just a way of telling them their different, and there's nothing wrong with that, but I wouldn't want my child to feel left out.
I haven't heard much around the topic of Charter Schools, and honestly didn't even know what they were until reading this form post, but from the way they sound, I wouldn't support them. Although some childrens, and as you stated, even parents and teachers, educations call for something other than tradintiol school systems, there's just so many cons to these type of schools that don't sound like they would weigh out it the end. Even though it's a more personal type of learning, I still don't see how charter schools would be anymore effective on a child's education than the tradintiol school system would be. I'm aware that someday as a parent I might have to choose between sending my child to public school and charter school, saying this as my freshman self, I think I would just enroll my children in the normal school system.
I think for some kids I would think that a charter school would be ok because there are some kids that do better in smaller groups. How the kid learns and how well they do will tell if its effective or not. I think that insted of supporting charter schools that they should support public schools and make it eaiser for kids that may need extra help get it. No I don't think i would send my child to a charter school .
Don't really know if I would send my kid to a charter school I would have to weigh the pros and cons but it is a different Idea.
