At Walt Disney's Hotels they are getting rid of the "Do Not Disturb" signs and changing them to "Room Occupied." The reason they are changing the sign is so that people who are working at the hotel can walk in and clean your room on a daily basis. They will knock and announce their presence and then walk in. The purpose for it is to see if everything is maintained, safe, and secure. They also said its because of the shooting in Las Vegas so they want workers to walk in and check on people. They said that they got rid of the "Do Not Disturb" signs because it tells workers to please keep going. Where the "Room Occupied" tells them someone is in there. It will keep everyone safe at Disney.
Questions:
1) Why do you think this is going to work?
2) Do you think this is going to drive people away from Disney hotels? Why?
Answers:
1) I do think this is going to work for a while then it'll die back down and go back to the normal "Do Not Disturb" but we will have to find out.
2) I do think this is going to drive away some people because they won't feel like they have any privacy and they can't just relax and be on vacation

So that people don't die or something horrible happens in there rooms. No honestly its not a big deal. I have had people just walk in before and knock but not here it. IF they announce they are coming in it should be fine.
I like how you relate to yourself and having an experience of some house keepers walking in. Also, I agree with how you think that you don't think it will be a big deal because it shouldn't be a big deal if you aren't hiding anything so it should be fine.
I think it might help. Who knows if it will solve problems like shootings and robbery's. I dont think it will drive people away because its basically the same thing except it allows people that need to clean to come in when they need to. I also think it will make some people mad because they might need privacy and someone could walk in whenever.
I agree with how you think it might work and how it will save lives and problems in the hotels. Also, I don't think it will drive people away either. I also get where you are coming from with the privacy thing because I don't want people looking through my stuff, even though house keeping might already do that.
I doubt it will work because I as a employee would be uncomfortable walking right into someones room if he/she are in there. I also think that if could drive some people away but not many and that is because people are different. Some people might like the feeling of being safer, and others might not.
I do understand how you would feel uncomfortable just walking in front of everyone but for your safety and your customers/people stay at the hotel will feel safer. I do but don't really think it will push people away because I feel like they will be safer rather than uncomfortable.
I think Disney has the right idea going here. Some people may not like this idea, but I think that it has the potential to help keep Disney a safer place.
Disney is usually a place where families go, therefore I don't think it will drive too many people away. Parents only want their kids to have fun and be safe and changing the sign is one way to keep them safer. People staying at the hotel will be at the park most of the time anyway, so I don't think this would affect them very much.
Yes I totally agree with you. I feel like people are going to feel safer more comfortable and have a great time at Disney because of the safety factor. The safer I am the more fun or more things I want to do at the park. I really like where you are coming from.
I feel like it may help in the case of a shooter but not really in the case of a romantic get away.
Maybe because people maybe trying to get away from the stress of being interrupted.
