Education Secretary Betsy DeVos had a plan to cut 12% funding for the special olympics. Trump has now come out against said cuts, and made claims that he has "overridden" Betsy Devos's purposed cuts. When asked about the funding trump replied "I've been to the Special Olympics. I think it's incredible and I just authorized a funding. I heard about it this morning. I have overridden my people. We're funding the Special Olympics." Since trump came out against the cuts Betsy stated "I am pleased and grateful the President and I see eye-to-eye on this issue and that he has decided to fund our Special Olympics grant. This is funding I have fought for behind the scenes over the last several years." Earlier on Thursday, DeVos told senators that she was not personally involved in the decision to propose eliminating funding for the Special Olympics.
Do you think they should cut funding for the special olympics?
I think they shouldn't cut funding because the general public would be outraged, and it's an important event that inspires a lot of people.
Do you think Betsy DeVos and trump actually see eye-to-eye?
I think Betsy is just backpeddling and making excuses to save her public appearence.

Good job overall Rebecca. Be sure to capitalize key words in your title as well as words that should be within your summary.
I think they should cut government funding for the special olympics because they recieve million of dollars a year from private donations and they do not need the extra money from the government. I do not think that they see eye to eye because I feel like if it was up to her education would not be cut at all.
DeVos is the one who requested to cut funds, so I believe it's very likely she would've in order to reduce government spending. Trump was against this idea as he stated he loved the Special Olympics. Why would you want to cut funding for the biggest sports organization for both children and adults who are mentally or physically disabled? It gives them new opportunities and equality.
No I do not think that they should cut funding for the special olympics. The special olympics probably mean alot to the people in them. It is a great thing for out nation to do because it makes the disabled feel normal. I dont think they see eye to eye. It would look bad on her part so she agreeded to look better even though it makes her look like a liar.
I do agree that. The Special Olympics are important, but I don't think it's for them to feel "normal", but more included instead. It does make her look like a liar, but also desperate for good publicity, instead of the image she probably gave herself.
No, I think that it would be absolutely evil to cut funding for the Special Olympics. If they did so, especially to fund something that the majority of American people aren't in support of. No, DeVos is flailing to subdue the outrage she has caused.
Agreed. It would be highly insensitive to cut the funding on one of the hugest sport organizations for children and adults. It's ridiculous how she is trying to reverse her statement as if she suddenly had overwhelming support after the long period of work she put in to cut it.
