Every hour there is on child that gets sick from a detergent pod. Just last year there was a case of accidental consumption from a child in Florida. There parents rushed the child to the hospital but the child died of poisoning from the detergent. Believe it or not this is far from the only case of this happening, there have been thousands of calls about accidental consumption to poison control. Children that consume the packets can experience respiratory distress and violent vomiting because of consumed but if it comes in contact with the eye the child can experience severe irritation and temporary loss in vision.
So what is your take on the detergent packets?

Well done!!
I feel like it depends on you and the parents should decide and watch out for them.
People use them to clean their clothing and they have warning on the packet or box saying keep out of reach of children and the parents should put them up on a high shelf.
The company probably has a warning in big bold letters saying keep out of reach of children. The parents should have them up high enough were the children can't reach them. Kids are not that tall so it shouldn't be that hard to keep it out of reach.
Laura, I would also have to agree that the companies put labels on it just so that they are not liable so that just makes it the parents fault.
Andrew, I definitely agree that parents need to keep this type of stuff out of reach of children so that nothing bad like that can happen.
I feel the parents should keep this father from children's, the parents are the only ones to blame.
Detergent companies more than likely label there products saying not for consumption and probably tell the what to do if consumed so if a child consumes it then the parents are to blame, because they either had it a place where they could get into it.
The only one too blame is the parents, the detergent companies probably have labels on their products showing how dangerous these are and to keep away from children. If the parents can't keep a box full of these little pods from their kids they are doing something wrong. This just seems like a simple problem with an easier solution.
I have seen the phrase easier to do laundry everytime and I agree, it makes washing clothes so very easy and makes it go by so fast, but the chemicals in it might want to be toyed with to see if we can make it less deadly and make it work as well if not better than before.
