A deputy in atlanta was filmed striking a man multiple times. The officer will be turned over to the clayton county district attorneys office. The investigation has been going on since Friday September 11th. The video showed two deputies holding the man to the ground and striking him reapeatedly in the head. One of the deputies screamed "he bit my hand" which may have been why they hit him. i think the deputies went overboard they shoudve just put him in cuffs and taken custody of him. But they beat him and didnt give him a fair chance to be taken into cutody properly. The man who got arrested was Roderick walker. His charges were two accounts of obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers. And two accounts of battery.

Johnathan,
Overall, your summary is brief. You do add some personal thoughts in there but I want your summary to be mostly your thoughts. You could write about the issue of police brutality and give you opinion about it.
The bigger issue is that you didn't reply to any student comments which is worth 30 points.
I think the officer could've used different and better ways of detaining this person, like tazing him instead of beating him with a stick multiple times. If they didn't give him a fair chance to be taken into custody then there seems to be something wrong with that police department and the people working within it.
Although this man had commited crimes, it wasn't right for the deputy to react that way. They're trained for this kind of situation, and although it's hard to control your human instincts of fight or flight, it's part of the job as an officer to try your best to have a reaction that follows protocal. To me, this sounds like he had a split second reaction, but what he didn't do was catch himself and stop. Instead he yelled that he had been bit and continued in a fit of rage. He should be facing charges too.
I too think that the deputy went over board by hiting this man in the head multiple times. Yes he may have bit the offecers hand but I feel there could have been a better way to hadle that situation other than stiking the man in the head multiple times.
I think it was wrong the way the deputies handled the situation, they should have just handcuffed him and taken him to jail. Just becasue he bit the deputie dosen't give them rights to beat the life out of him and give him no chance.
