DeMarcus Cousins traded to Pelicans

This weekend on Sunday night the Sacramento Kings made a puzzling trade with the Pelicans.  Which left the team without DeMarcus Cousins who is a starting caliber center. The Kings received SG  Buddy Hield, SF Tyreke Evans, PG Langston Galloway, and a First and Second round draft pick. The Pelicans will now have a dominant back court with the already star Anthony Davis and with the new addition of Demarcus Cousins. The Pelicans are now pushing for a playoff spot because they have a dominate back court which can get tons of offense and defensive rebounds and a future all star shooting guard Buddy Hield. Even though this Trade hasn't been approved officially.

Questions:

1. How do you think this Trade will affect the Sacramento Kings?

2. Why do you think the Sacramento Kings made this trade?

My answers:

1. I think this trade will really hurt the kings because Cousins was the best player on the kings and without Cousins i don't think the Kings will be a high caliber team they thought they were

2. I think they made this trade because they wanted a knew start to their franchise and to get younger players. I also think they made this trade because they really didn't have another choice to get their Franchise rolling again.

  • Good job overall! Your summary could be a bit better-your first and second sentence should be one sentence.

  • I think that who ever takes DeMarcus Cousins place has big shoes to fill but the Kings will find a good replacement for the position. I believe the Kings made the trade because they found someone that they think that they can get to play better even though DeMarcus Cousins was really good.

  • Well if they lost a really good center they probably won't be as good as they were earlier in the season... I wouldn't know why they would do that. I think they made this trade to get more players not to mention that they are younger.

  • Well if Cousins is really that good then I think that it will probably hurt the Kings not having him. Maybe it had something to do with how he reacted against the bulls coach when he pushed him. I have no idea thoughh..

    • Cousins was a really good player he led the Kings in many categories and without Cousins the Kings wouldn't have made it as far as they have.

  • It will not benefit them right away because they are losing one of their best players, but I think it could help them greatly in the future as they have really young players now. There are many reasons why they could have done this. Maybe he wasn't happy and wanted to be traded, or maybe they just wanted to new younger players.

    • I agree with you about 99% because as you said it won't really benefit them but in the long run i believe that it will. I think the reason they traded them in my opinion was because they wanted to get some young players involved in their organization and hopefully it will turn the Kings into a high caliber organization.

  • I think the trade will not benefit the kings because they are losing one of their best players and that's not easy. The most valuable player always gives a positive attitude to the team.  I think the team is trying to start a whole new team and I think that they needed to.

    • I agree with you 100% because as you said the best player gives a spark and is also a leader on the team and without them then teams will just be bad. I agree with you on the second part too because the only way the Kings would've made this trade was to try to make a whole knew team with young players.

  • I think it will affect them a little because one of their starters is being sent to another team. I think that they will wish they had him when their team is falling behind in the games, I think the Kings made the trade because they wanted something new. Or maybe they wanted to get rid of the player and did not like the player. I don't know the whole story.
