A Swedish study found that during the first 3 work days after daylight savings time, the number of heart attacks nearly double. The first few weeks of daylight sanings time also sees more suicides and traffic accidents. It can also have negative effects on the financial markets.

Because of the health and economic problems it causes, Kazakhstan abolished daylight savings in 2005.

How does that make you feel?

  • it makes sense cause you have to adjust your sleep and stuff. in arizona they dont do daylight savings. which i think is smart. and in the end it really doesnt do anything
  • I kind of want to go live in Kazakhstan now. I like it when we gain an hour but when you have to lose on it drives me crazy because everything is so hectic and you feel like your running majorly late even if you are on time. That is a possible reason for people to freak out and have heart attcks but with that many more than a few have to be a coincedence
  • I don't think I've personally noticed any weird feelings like that at that time. I read information like this when I did a CWI blog last year about Russia eleminating some time zones. It's so bazaar!
  • Thats a little bit scary. I'll agree with Jordan it's just a coincidence. Nothing about daylight savings time should make you want to die.
  • it seems to be mere coincidence. nothing about daylight savings time has made me want to die
  • That makes me kind of sad because people are getting hurt and some of them will not be coming back.
