Dad Pleads Not Guilty In Hot Car Death

On July 7th, Kyle Seitz was supposed to drop his son off at a daycare, but apparently the dropoff never happened. Seitz drove to the daycare center after work, only to find that his son was not there, but still in his car. When he realized this, he drove to the hospital, but his 15-month old son, Benjamin, had already died. The cause of his son's death was a heatstroke due to his environmental exposure.

The death of Benjamin ruled a homicide in August, but recently, Seitz pleads not guilty.

At least 44 children died in 2013 from heatstroke by being left in cars in the United States, and at least 30 children have died this year for the same reason.

What he did could have easily been an honest mistake, because there are already a lot of similar fatalities. What he did was extremely irresponsible, but I don't think it was on purpose.

Do you think Seitz should be charged with homicide? Why or why not?

  • Great job!!

  • I don't think he should if it was a mistake and he took his son to the doctor, if it wasn't a mistake he would have just called 911. But I believe that since this has been a large issue this year that the court will find him guilty just because of the fact that it is happening so much, he also don't have a lot of evidence in his favor.

  • yes because how didn't he notice his kid in the back probity crying.

  • I think he should be charged. I believe it was an accident but it would be like any other death case. Things happen and people still get charged even if it was an accident.

    • Yes, I would have to agree. Do you think that other cases like these should be resulted in the same charges?

  • I think it is hard to decide when you think he probably didn't do it on purpose but if you have a child you should be responsible enough to know your child is in the car with you and if he remembered the daycare at the end of the day why couldn't he remember in the short time he was in the car to take him to daycare.

    • Yeah, you would think that he would have remembered later in the day. If he is charged, what do you think it will be for?

  • I think it's a little strange that he didn't hear the baby in the backseat. Although, it very well could have been an accident so he probably should be charge with homicide.

  • This guy is a jackwagon how do u leave ur kid in a car duh what a bunch of crap. This guy should b sent to life in prison for being in idiot in the first place im sure he "Accidentally" did it NO he killed his kid  with a CAPITOL KILLED then acted  all innocent bout it n  he should face the charges that should b coming his way this guy obvioulsy isnt a good parents and should not have any more kids in his lifetime because he already murdered his 1st kid so yea this guys needs to get a life and quit being a pile of manure

  • I dont think he should because he accidentally left him in the car. I dont get how you leave someone in the car though, he should be more responsible.
