The Florida authorities said they were investigating former peers of a 12-year-old girl who killed herself in central Florida after she was bullied online for months. It was not clear whether any criminal charges would be filed coming from the suicide on Monday of Rebecca Ann Sedwick, who leaped to her death from the tower of an abandoned cement business site near her home.
"We have to determine if a crime has been committed. We have cyber-stalking laws and cyberbullying laws. It really depends on how the case goes," said Donna Wood, the sheriff spokeswoman.
Investigators found messages on social media that was sent to Rebecca stating, "You should die," and "Why don't you go kill yourself." The sheriff said Sedwick was "beat down" after receiving the hate-filled messages and "absolutely terrorized."
After her death, investigators found out that Sedwick had told a boy her age about her decision to end her life, but he told no one. "I'm jumping. I can't take it anymore," she wrote in a message to him.

What do you think should happen to the people that terrorized Sedwick? What would you do if you were in her position?

You would have ended your own life? Why not just shut off the computer? You've got a long life ahead of you. Don't let one person mess that up for you.
I would just stay off that online messaging site to avoid it. Also if they don't know who you are them forget them they don't know you.
In the article, it said that it was people from her own school. She started being home schooled because of all the harassment.
This is why bullying needs to be put to a stop. Making kids kill themselves because you don't like them? None of this is the right thing to do. I'm sure the kids that made her jump feel very very guilty about this. It's very sad that Rebecca killed herself. Possibly she could of gone to her parents or someone high up in the school and tell them about what they are doing to her.
I think they should go to jail for a very long time and not be able to talk to anyone. Also if I were in her position I wouldn't kill myself I would just ignore them and if they kept doing it I would talk to somebody and/or tell the police and maybe they will do something about it. Committing suicide especially if they are at that age is just wrong.
They should probably get into trouble. If I was her I would just not listen to them who cares get over it. Don't listen to anything they are saying
This is sad. There are too many stories like this, I wish all the cyberbullying would stop. I think the people who terrorized Sedwick will just be juveniles. I think she should have just stopped getting on the social media.
No one will ever stop, unless the punishment for it becomes major.
I agree that she should have just stopped getting online. I also think that she should have talked to an adult, or a close friend about it.
things like this happen all the time. suicides happen more often than we realize. it's not talked about enough i don't think. bullying is horrible, and suicide is a permanent answer to a temporary problem. never the less this is tragic and sad.
This makes me sick... I think that she should have gone to someone about it. I think that the peers should suffer some consequences because after all they took the life of a 12 year old girl.
