Crossing Guard Saves Girl From Kidnapping

Adrian Young a crossing guard at Alexandria Avenue Elementary School in Los Angeles just finished her shift when she heard screaming from a little girl. The little girl was screaming “Please don't let her take me. I don't know her. She's not my mom.” She then went into mother mode and saved the 8-year-old girl from being kidnapped. Young and the girl gave the police a description of the kidnapper, the police eventually found her and charged her with kidnapping.

Do you think the crossing guard did the right thing by putting her life into to risk to save the girl?

What would you do if you saw a kidnapping happen?

My opinion- I definitely think the crossing guard did the right thing. If I saw a kidnapping happen I would try everything to prevent or call the cops.

  • Good overall. I think your summary could be stronger and I also think you could reply more frequently since you had a lot of people reply to your story.

  • yes it was very brave that she stopped the women from kidnapping that little girl.although calling the police would of probably been safer, it would of been a lot slower, and the girl may of been taken and been put into more danger.I would of done the same thing as the women did.

  • I think she did, I believe it's everyone's duty to help others when they are in trouble. You don't have to do something dangerous, calling 911 would be just as helpful. I would call 911, make sure to get a description of the kidnapper and of the vehicle. I would also try to get a licence plate number. I don't know if I would confront the person because I would be afraid the person was armed and if they were to kill me then the police wouldn't have the information I had.

  • I think that the crossing guard did the right thing.  I would hope that everybody would do the same thing if they saw or heard a kid trying to be kidnapped.  I think I would have done the same thing as the guard did.  I would make sure to get a good description of the kidnapper so that I could report it to the police and they find them.

  • I believe the crossing guard did the right think by trying to help the young girl. Yes, it was dangerous, but I believe that the girl would have been kidnapped and gone by the times the cops got there. The situation would have been very different if the kidnapper had a weapon, then I believe the guard should have just called the police and stayed out of it.

  • I think the crossing guard definitely did the right thing. If you could save someone from being kidnapped wouldn't you? I would try to save them or if it was too dangerous too try I would get the best description I could and possibly a license plate number if possible to give to the authorities. I hope the little girl is okay and that she isn't scarred for life because of it.

    • I agree with what you said about trying to get a description or a license plates because you never know if the kidnapper has a weapon.

  • I do believe the crossing guard did the right thing because if she didn't save the little girl she would have lived knowing that the little girls family may never see her again. I don't believe it was a life threatening situation that she or the little girl was put in, but she did the right thing. If I saw a kidnapping happening, I would attempt to save whoever is being kidnapped and if I can't do that I would call the authorities.

  • Yes, I do because the girl could have gotten hurt if she wasn't saved. I would try to stop it because who wouldn't? In cases like these, you need to put others before yourself.

  • Suggesting that she inevitably put her life at risk is somewhat excessive. I won’t argue that she didn’t put herself in harm’s way, but yes, I do think she did the right thing.

First off, children are unpredictable, so I would ensure that it really was a legitimate incident. It would probably be in my best interest to then try to find someone that’s more suitable to assess the situation.
