Last nights WHCA dinner was a failure, due to a comedian's poor choice of material and personal attacks against the press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Some of the comedian's material was a very direct personal attack on Sander's looks and  work performance. Suprisingly, the secretary did not walk out among the intensive critism and just sat through it without seeming overly phased.  The comedian Michelle Wolf has since pushed back against her critism stating, "Why are you guys making this about Sarah’s looks? I said she burns facts and uses the ash to create a *perfect* smoky eye. I complimented her eye makeup and her ingenuity of materials."

What do you think of the comedian's script?

How would you have reacted if the attacks had been against you?

Answers: I think that the personal and unprofessional attacks are disgusting and that no one should feel they have the right to be that disrespectful and rude to anyone. She should not have taken her jokes to the personal level to make fun of anyone. the point of a comedian is to have a good laugh that everyone can enjoy not a way to make fun of someone in front of national television.

If these attacks had been against me I would honestly probably responded with a carefully timed and calculated comeback then asked her that she remove herself from the stage and leave the premisis.

  • Well done! -10 late

  • 1) I think that it was very rude and I don't think anyone should be treated like that. That is very disrespectful and no one should ever do that to a person.

    2) Yes that is what I wold do. I would come up with a comeback and just ask her to exit.

  • Ok I don't think they were meant to hurt her that much. But it did hurt more than I would have expected. She just has to find a line where funny turns into harrasment. I would feel sad but I know that it is the comedian's job to make jokes but none targeted directly to me.

    • where do you think it would be to draw the line between harrasment and being funny? I think that a repeated attack directed at someone with full intention of malice becomes harrasment. Personally I would feel worse about it that people thought it was funny then if they just made fun of me in general.

  • I don't really know the comdeian's skript so I can't say anything about it. The only thing I know is that the secretary must have been offended by the jokes, but like I said, the jokes are not clear to me. I feel sorry for the lady to go through such a situation and I admire her for staying in her seat. If I would have been attacked, I would have tried to stay calm and see the comedian's point of view. She might have used some inappropriate jokes, but in the end it's her job and there's critics everywhere.

    • The attacks seemed very intentionally and fully directed at her. I also admire her greatly for having such a calculated and calm response to these jokes. I feel like these jokes weren't intentionally jokes but actually meant as an attack. one of her "jokes" stated was " "I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s very resourceful," the former “Daily Show” writer said. "She burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye. Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s lies. It’s probably lies."

  • I don't think it is OK. Even if he wasn't trying to insult her, anything that could possibly hurt someone's feelings shouldn't even be said, so joking about it is even worse. I haven't actually heard the speech, but it sounds to me like the comedian should pick a funnier and lest insulting script next time.

If someone were to attack me like this I would have probably walked out. I don't like to handle stuff like this, and it is easiest just to leave.

  • I think it was supposed to be an attack towards the secretary. She sounds very sarcastic in her jokes that supposedly "complimented" the secretary. I would've sat through it like she did because she is a comedian and it's supposed to be a joke.

    • I feel like a script such as this though is just unprofessional and that any "joke" intentionally attacking anyone isn't a joke, It's harrasment.  Sarcasm is beautiful I love it, but I don't appreciate sarcasm at the expense of someone else.

  • I think it was funny in my opnion, I don't think people understand this has been happening for years. In fact I thought it was true about the lies with Sarah Sanders. She never just answers the questions. I would've been upset, yet again all famous people are loved or hated.
