After calling 911 for help with their son, these parents watched their son get shot in cold blood. Keith Vidal, 18 who was schizophrenic was having an episode, so his parents decided he needed to get help so they called the police. When they got there two officers stun gunned him after receiving orders from a third. The same officer who ordered the stuns, seconds later, shot him once in the chest while he was held down. I think that this is absolutely awful and they obviously could have restrained him since they were holding him down while he was shot. What do you think could have been done? Should he have been tazed in the first place? Should he have been murdered?

Great job Kat!!
I do not think he should of got shot. The parents called for help not for their kid to get killed! He should of just got tazed. I think the officer that shot him should get his badge taken away.
I think that the cops should lose their badges. the cops knew he had problems when they came to help. I think they took it way too far by shooting him..
I think he shouldn't of shot and killed him. They could of taken him somewhere to calm down.
I think that the police did the right thing, after they taze him twice and he doesn't respond to that he is threatening to the officers on the scene. If they didn't kill him he would have done the same things many more times because of his disease and one time he may end up seriously injuring himself or somebody else.
That is terrible he has mental problems and the cops knew that which made it even worse they should have tried to talk him before they stun gunned him and then shooting him in the chest.
I don't think the cops should of shot him just because he was having an episode. All the parents were asking was for them to come and help him not take his life. Since they were already holding him down when the cop shot him they could of easily restrained him until he stopped. I think the cop that shot him needs to be questioned.
I think that they shouldn't of shot the kid. At least the tasing was fine, but shooting the kid wouldn't be good. The mother should of also called a psychiatrist, or someone who deals with people who have schizophrenia. I know that there could of been a way to deal with the problem and not have it lead to death.
if you read the article from cnn you will read "objective reasonible manner". The cops were threatend by the boy and did what they had to do. the fact that the boy is dead is horrific, but it was done in a reasonible manner.
Yes, and the full grown 30-40 year old body-armor wearing cops were armed with guns and a tazer, what is an 18 year old schizophrenic with a screw driver going to do to a squad of hardened men?
