the California police shot a dog because there was a robbery and the owner was video taping the showdown and the dog tryed to attack the officer. the owner bail is $310,000 and 5 years of prison he got 6 misdemeanors. officers approached him, Rosby put his Rottweiler in his car and allowed the police to apprehend him. But while he was being arrested, the dog jumped from an open car window, ran toward the officers and barked at them.One policeman shot the dog four times, causing the writhing Rottweiler to slowly bleed to death on the street

I don't think the cop made the right choice by shooting the dog because the dog didn't actually hurt anyone or anything.
Instead of shooting the dog he could have kicked it, hit it, sure he a baton too that he could have used. Plus there were other people there that could have helped him. Yes he needed to do something, but not kill the dog.
It's hard to criticize the officer at a time like this because he was doing what he thought he should at that moment in time. The dog doesn't know any better but it is the owners responsibility to control his dog.
I think that the officer had the right to protect himself, and made the right decision.
I can see having to control the dog to an extent, but shooting it four times is a little much. There had to have been another way to control it.
I think that the police officer did do it out of self defense. People should train their dogs to behave in public. The police officer probably didn't want to shoot the dog he was just worried about his safety.

I think that the police made the right choice by shooting the dog. It could have attacked and injured them, and/or allowed the prisoner to escape.
oh my god that is so sad. they had no reason to shoot the dog. the dog was doing its natural instinct to protect his owner. he was trying to be loyal and protect him.
i agree the cop should lose their badge no need to shoot it 4 times
