Authorities searched the hard drive of the Eric Frein (The Cop Killer) shows he planned his attack for years. He had planned his retreat for the woods for multiple years and had searched things to help him get out of being caught. For example he researched “how to avoid police manhunts” and other topics on survival and how to make your own weapons. Police said it provided a lot of information, but not nearly as much as they had hoped. They say this gets them closer to finding him, but not close enough and that he will be found to regain security on their community.

No, I would keep looking for the man. He committed a very serious crime and does not deserve to get away with this. The cops need to keep searching for him and fund him and punish him.
I agree with both of you, if they stop lives may be at risk, if they keep hunting lives are still at risk. I think they should keep hunting because most cops would rather lose their lives for someone else's
he killed a cop and is clearly dangerous i dont know why they would stop but my question is why would someone plan for years to kill a cop. there must be a story here or maybe he is just insane. but he definetly needs to be caught so they need to try harder and continue the search to find him.

That is true but by not hunting the guy, you are risking lives in the community if he tries to attack again.
By hunting the guy, you're risking the lives of every cop that steps foot in that forest. If he's been planning it for years, and already has knowledge on how to survive in the wild, the cops could walk right by him without knowing a thing.
I agree with keep hunting because if they do stop, he may make another attack or do something worse.
I would keep hunting, and ask for more help because if you stop I think it would just make the situation worse by people not feeling safe and finding out about it, leading to an angry mess in the community.
