On Friday morning, 16 year-old Maren Sanchez was stabbed her school stairwell. Her family said she had "a bright life full of hopes and dreams". The police believe the motive is that Maren declined when a boy asked her to go to prom. The boy was not happy with this. Maren was stabbed in her face, neck, and chest. The boy who killed her will be arraigned in a juvenile court, where the court will decide if he will be tried as an adult. The incident began at 7 am that morning. One school staff member was there to witness. The death is being ruled as a homicide. The family also said "We need to ensure that more young children are protected from violent attacks at schools".
I think this was an uncalled for event. Maren was killed over such a little issue. I feel sorry for her family, friends, and classmates. I think her killer should be tried as an adult and gets what he deserves. Do you think the killer should be tried as adult? Do you think schools are safe enough?

I also think that he should be charged as an adult because what he did was totally uncalled for. I understand that sometimes you can get mad because somebody does feel the same way about you, but going as far as killing somebody is a little outrageous.

Yes, most of the time the killers are not mentally stable. There is nothing schools can do about it. Hopefully a solution is found in the near future.
I think that he should be tried as an adult even though we are not technically an adult. I don't think schools aren't safe enough because kids can just walk in with a knife in their bag or a gun and no one would know. I think that schools should put more safety in because too many school shooting and stabbings are happening.
It is sad to see all the bad things happening at schools. Innocent lives are lost and there needs to be a way to stop it. It would be almost impossible to stop everything though.
Ya he probably knew what he was doing and should be sent to prison for awhile. As for schools being safe enough probably not, but the only way to be completely safe is to do daily searches.
I'm not sure how doing daily searches would work. They could try it in a few schools at first, and if it works, schools across the US could do that.
Yes he is old enough to know what he did? I think there are ways to better protect schools but you cannot stop something like this.
Schools can still be very safe, but you are right. There is no way to prevent everything.
