In today’s sports concussions are a major problem. Close to 3.8 million concussions are reported each year. About 10% of athletes will experience a concussion in a sport. Many concussions go unreported and undiagnosed this leads to premature return to there activity. Concussions happen in all sports, but the leading sport with the most reported cases is football, soccer, rugby, hockey and basketball.
Everyday sports associations are trying to make their sport safer. They are improving the protective gear all time to try and keep the athlete safe from injury. No matter what you do to try to keep people safe there will still be injuries its part of the game. Yes concussions can have long term effects, but thats not going to stop me and a lot of people from playing the sports we love. Even if I would get a concussion I would still return to the sport as soon as I would be able to.
Many schools are seeing declining numbers of students out for sports. Since, this is happening many schools have had to resort to 8 man football. Most would say that 8 man and 11 man football are played much differently from each other. Schools are losing players because parents arn’t letting their child go out for that sport and the player alone are scared of getting hurt. Schools need to educate their players more on this subject and maybe it will help the players and parents feel more comfortable.
Are you worried about getting a concussion while playing?
Would you stop playing your sport if you got a concussion?
What do you think players can do to help prevent a concussion?

I don't think there is much we can do to prevent concussions unless we completely change the game. I think if the kids aren't willing to get a concussion I wonder are they truly committed to playing that sport and helping their team win the game or games.
I think you really can't prevent a concussion unless you're constantly think about it. I just like to stay focused and hope for the best. I would stop cheering if I got a concussion. However, I would still go to practice to mark through stuff so I'm not behind. Of course I'm worried about getting a concussion. I worry during pracrice all the time.
I think that some sports could definitely take a few more precautions in order to prevent as many concussions from happening. I personally have never had a concussion, but I know a lot of people who have. When they had one they took a few days off, but they definitely didn't let it stop them from playing their sport again. I think later on in life that a lot of these people who get a lot of concussions may have some health problems, but they just don't realize that now.
When playing sports I don't really think about getting a concussion. So no, im not really worried about getting a concussion while playing. I wouldn't stop playing my sport either if I got one. I would wait and recover first but then I would keep playing. Players can wear more head gear during sports to help prevent concussions.
No, I am not worried aboout getting a concussion while playing any sport, I wouldn't stop playing the sport either unless I absolutely had to. I don't know what they could to prevent them because I am not a doctor.
I honestly don't think there is a way to prevent concussions other than head and brain protection. Obviously it isn't reasonable to ask people to be more careful because everyone does or should play to their full hardworking potential.
I don't play sports, so I'm not that concerned about getting a concussion, but I do think people should care a little more about them than they do. I don't think the fear of concussions should stop anyone from playing a sport they enjoy, but I know concussions can cause some pretty hefty damage, so people should be mindful of them.
I am not too worried about getting a concussion from a sport. Actually even if it had a high rate of getting a concussion I would still go because I would like/love the sport. I would not stop playing the sport if I had a concussion, because like you said their isn't that many people in sports nowadays so they need as many players as they can get. I also do not want to stop playing a sport mid-way unless I really dislike the sport and have a concussion will I try to find an alternate way if not I will just play the season out. So even when I have a concussion from the sport I was playing after I am allowed to play the sport I will play the sport and try to help out my team, because we are a team. I think to prevent concussions we should have it required that players have to read the safety, information, and prevent packer on concussions.
I'm not really worried about getting a concussion while playing sports, because that's the risk I take when I play the sport and I know that. Plus if you get a concussion it shouldn't stop you from playing the sport you love/like or make you quit that sport, unless you or your parent think it may be to dangerous for you.
I dont worry as much as I used to when playing, I know it can cause some major problems but I know I would be fine. I definitely think that I wouldn't leave my sport for it. I do think that they can by being more careful about things and taking more precaussion.
