In the US. President Trump's administration has executed 13 inmates in his presidency. The U.S. hasn't had any federal execution's in 17 before trump served. 22 states in 106 countries have abolished the death penalty Yet the U.S. it is still legal. People should not be sentenced to any federal execution's because they are too cruel of a punishment. ACLU (Americans Civil Libral Unions) they believe that the death penalty violates the constitutional ban against cruel and unusual punishment.
The state should not be able to make that decision to kill any human being. They should not do it in the name of its people, the law, because when done that way it is in discriminatory fashion and should be banned. The death penalty is also applied unfair in the U.S. FIrst it is largely dependant on how much money that person has. secondly it goes back to the skills of their atterey. Lastly, it depends on the race of the victim and where the crime was taken place. People of color are far more likely to get executed than white people.
The FBI has found that the states who don't have the death penalty law have more crime. That can be changed by increasing the number of police officers, reducing drug abuse, and creating a higher economy. If states do these things, their won't have to be any death sentences and the state can be a better environment for innocent people to live and be safe. Often innocent people get sentenced to death. Since 1903, over 156 people have been released from their death sentence in 26 states because of the innocence.
Do you think death penelties should be ilegal?
If so, how do you think we can completely ablolish it?

Good topic choice and good job replying Tela. Your summary is long enough but could have been organized a bit better so it flowed more smoothly. You jump around a bit.
I agree with you, I think that the death penalty should be abolished. the particular reason for this is that I don't think that if someone commits a crime the government should have the right to take their life away, they might have done something terrible but it doesn't make their lives completely worthless. The purpose of the prison system should be re-education not punishment.
No, I think they should stay lawful. In a large country like the U.S., we need a form of punishment that will limit and stop many from commiting crimes. The death penalty should be kept in order to stop crime. Allowing prisoners to live life in a prison might work, but it can really set an example for what is to come for future criminals.
I don't think the death penelty should be abolished because the people who killed others should get what they deserve I mean not to be totaly blunt, but if you take a life then I think it's fair if your life should be taken also. Letting those people spend life in prison is kind of good, but they killed someone on purpose.
I believe that the death penalty should stay legal. If you've done something so horribly wrong then you've got what's coming. I don't think that is depends on race either. If your black and you kill a bunch of people, there's nothing racist about sending you to the electric chair.
I see where you are coming from but the innocent people who are a different race get fingers pointed at them and then they get a death penalty for no reason. This is why we need to abolish it because we are killing people who may be innocent.
I think this a terrible thing, but I feel that it should stay legal. The people who are committing these crimes will be punished and hopefully learn from it. While most don’t learn, they do it again and again, but they will still be punished over and over. I feel that it should be abolished but also people shouldn’t be doing this and should be punished.
I disagree because people who kill people should be punished but that is no reason for them to kill people. If they get sentenced for life they won't be able to kill people or hurt anyone. That is a way better decision then putting them to a death penalty.
I do think the death penalty should be abolished because it is usually used against people who have taken the life of others. I think that spending the rest of your life in prison is a good penalty for people who have killed others.
I agree with you, because people should be punished by suffering in prison and not killed I think killing a person for a crime they commited is not the best answer. It won't solve any problems or make the world any better. A life sentence is better than a death penalty.
