CIA Director: '28 Pages'

The CIA director John Brennan says that releasing the 28 classified pages from the 9/11 attacks would be a major risk. He thinks it would be a mistake because there may be some inaccurate info that could be used to sway the readers into making Saudi Arabia the attackers. They left this chapter out because it used sensitive investigative methods. None of the 28 pages have been vetted or corroborated. Now there is major controversy on the subject because some people want to protect the national security of the United states and some people want to ruin everyone involved in the attacks.

If you were the CIA director what would you do with the documents? Why?

If you were the people receiving the news how would you react, would you take some sort of action? Why or why not?

My opinion: If I was in the directors spot I would let the people see them, but do everything in my power to keep the people from retaliating. If I was receiving the news I would want to take action, but would know I have to hold myself back or will end up in jail for doing something stupid.

  • Good overall but all of your replies were done on the same day. I require three different days.

  • Keep them safe and try to update them so the info is more accurate than it is now, because if it isn't really accurate than there is no reason to really show the public. I would think that they shouldn't have talked about the 28 pages until it was absolute facts and no, because there is no need to take action against what has already happen.

  • I think the documents should remain private. If this is already sparking controversy, I can't imagine what it would be like if the documents were released. I am certain that the CIA possesses thousands of other secretive documents that we don't know about, so why is this one being questioned? I think that releasing this would only cause more problems within the United States and even around the world.

  • I think that I would tell the people what they were about, but the people don't need every single detail. I am just curious about what those last pages were left out. Why were they able to release the others, but not these last 28?

    • I agree people deserve to know a little about the details if the rest of the documents have already been let out.

  • i would keep the documents with the CIA. i think that the public people do not need to know everything, it would be better for the public not to know anyway cause it will create more issues.

    • I think the people deserve to know some of the info, but they do not need to know every single detail within the documents.

  • I think the documents need to remain private. I don't think anyone needs to know them right now because it will just cause more issues, and we already have enough going on in the world right now. I think people just want to hear it so they can have another reason to do something, but no one really needs to know it now because they have been fine this far.

  • I would keep the documents within the CIA until the information was 100% correct and that it was safe to release it. These pages don't need to be released right at this second and it really doesn't need to be released ever. I think that these papers could stay a secret and it wouldn't affect anyone. I think that if this information is released it will just cause more problems.

    • I think both ways on this subject because I think the U.S. wants to keep the details secret, but they have already let the other pages of info out so why not these. I think that the people just want to know ho is at fault for the attacks.
