Church shooting results in one death and seven wounded.

September 24, 2017 on a Sunday morning police were called about a shooting outside The Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in Antioch Tennessee, where eight innocent people were shot by a man wearing a "neoprene mask"  or ski mask. There were seven wounded (including accidentally shooting himself) and one killed. All but one that was under the age of 60 years old. Police say the man had no relation to the congregation and is now being held heavily guarded in a hospital.

1.) What should the man responsible for the shootings punishment be?

2.) What would you do to help support the church if this were to happen in your community?

I feel the man who did this should be life in prison for endangering the lives of lots of people and taking the life of someone who didn't deserve it. Also if something like this were to happen in my community I would do the best I could to try and comfort the families that are going through the tough time.

  • Good job overall. Be sure to comment on three different days and comment throughout the entire week. All of your comments were done on September 24th. Also be sure to capitalize words in your title.

  • I think his punishment should be like any other shooter, but his repercussions should be more severe because he did end up killing one person. I would give money to the congression that could be split between the patients for hospital bills, maybe even start a fundraiser for it.

  • He should get life imprisonment, but in my opinion he shouldn't be put to death because if you kill him, you wouldn't be better and basically do the same as he did. I would probably try to help the families as good as possible.

  • 1 - I think this man should be either put to death for taking so many innocent lives or he should be put into maximum security prison for the rest of his life without bail or any chance of getting out. This man took many lives that were innocent and for that he shouldn't be able to live his, in my opinion.

  • I think he should go to jail for life. What he did was unacceptable. I would try to comfort them by praying for them, making food for the families, and whatever else I could do to help the victims and their families.

  • I think the man should go to prison or undergo some kind of consequences and he put many people in danger and put families in terrible situations. I would give support to the families and people. I would want to help everyone and try to make things better even though thinking about is probably the worst thing for the families.

  • He should be imprisoned for life. The man shouldn't be shown forgiveness when he went in and tried to kill people. I would go to the funeral of the man/women that died and I would go to the funeral of anyone else if they die later on.

  • The man responsible for this shooting should face prison time or be sent to a mental institution because his actions were inhumane and harmful.

I think that the church needs all the support it can get, but I doubt that the church wants the attention. The congregation of the church probably wants to move on and pray for those who have been effected by this man's actions. The families should feel the support of the community, but they also need their own recovery time and time to spend with the injured.

  • I think that he should get life in prison for killing so many people that is terrible and nobody should be able to do it. I would attend the funerals and pray for them.

  • I think if he killed more than one person he should die, because he not only killed one but he injured a whole bunch of other people and he knew what he was doing, its not like hes a little kid not knowing what a gun can do. I would bring food and comfort those who need to be comforted.
