Child Survives Syrian Airstrike

On Tuesday in Khan Sheikhoun, in the province of Idlib, a Syrian airstrike is conducted and hits several residential areas. The rocket hit at about 12:30 in the afternoon, causing several injuries and deaths to 2 families. Not too long after, a 6 year old girl, Hasna'a Qatran, was found beneath the rubbel of her housing complex. Her 3 year old sister and 1 year old brother did not survive the attack, along with a cousin. After nearly 2 hours, the "White Helmet" volunteers had finally retreived her from the debri. Abdul Razzak Qatran, Hasna'a's father, was completely devesated of his other children's deaths, but was thankful that Hasna'a made it. She was brought to the hospital to be checked for minor injuries, but was later relased on Thursday.

If you were this child, how would you react in this situation?

Did this change your view on the wars raging in the Middle East? If so, how?

  • I would be very scard and try yelling for help so people knew I was under all the rubble. but I would also try not to move so nothing fell on me. I doesn't really change my view on the wars in the middle east.

  • i wouldnt know how to act after surviving an unknown airstrike. I might be thinking that i was the luckiest person alive or the least luckiest person alive. I dont think we should get involved and if so just sending medical help to those in need.

  • I would be very sad and devastated about all of it and would feel not good. I think it is awful where this has come, they are harming innocent people and causing things that are not needed.

  • I would be scared and devastated about the deaths of my younger siblings and cousin. It's awful what happened to Hasna'a and I hope she can move on peacefully and remember her loved ones that died.I think that the wars in the Middle East are terrible and end up harming innocents but I'm not sure how the U.S. could help without triggering something worse.

  • I would be scared that I could have died and very upset that my loved ones died. No, it did not change my view on the Middle East. War still remains the same to me. They still kill tons of people, destroy buldings, and cause a lot of devestation.

  • I would try and find some kind of adult somewhere or I would try and find somewhere safe to hide. I still think the wars in the Middle East need to keep on going because it is keeping most of the Terroist groups under control.

  • This does change my view on the war in the Middle East. They are harming the whole country, innocent people who are not in the war are having their lives risked over something they don't want to be apart of. It's sad how many families are lost due to the war no one ever wanted.

  • I would be completely terrified. Not only is that a traumatizing experience for someone, but it is also a very sad and devastating because the loss of family members. This really didn't change my veiws because I am kind aware of what going on over there.

    • I agree with you, it would be horrible, i would be so scared I don't want to die. Losing a grandparents or family friend that is old it one thing but losing someone who still has the rest of their life to live is so sad. they should be able to have the opportunity to get married and have kids but they can't because their dead.
