Child Labor Changes have Farmers nervous!

For all the farm kidsout there this one may get you upset. As a lot of us know farm kids drive tractors or sometime of machinery by the age of 16. No with these new changes that could come would prohibit any kids underneath the age of 16 from driving a tractor or other type of machinery. The main reason is that farm kids driving machinery are more likely to die earlier than other kids.

What are your thoughts? Personally I think this is dumb because I live on a farm and I've been driving tractors since I was 12.  Also the only reason why you are more likely to die is because you're screwing around. If you know what you're doing you shouldn't even come close to dieing.

    well i dont know?? well this is what we were talking about that the govnment should just keep out of things of the people... really its stupid! let us do what we want! They need to stop making useless laws.

    This is stupid. Anything you do could get you killed if you act like a friggen idiot. Using a pen could be potentially harmful, 'cos what if the kid shoves it in their eye or up their nose? I hope you get what I mean by that. Anything you do can hurt you if you let it. Plus, these kids are taught by their parents and have been doing it since they were maybe 8 or so!! Tractors don't go very fast. Not to mention, this new little law thing could stunt the growth of agriculture in this country. Kids are going to start losing interest in ag. if this passes...

    Is this really the kind of laws the government is making? Is there nothing more important to change is this country? But i guess it did day that it wouldnt take affect on farmes your parents own, so not very many kids would be affected by it....

    This is dumb, i have been driving tractors since i was twelve also and always lived on a farm and loved doing work. The part of dying earlier is not going to happen if you pay attention of what your doing and be smart.

    All the farm kids I know are good drivers and have been driving tractors since they were like 8 years old. Also, tractors don't go very fast. There are way more wrecks by kids in cars than with kids driving tractors. They should appose this law.
