In West Virginia, there was a chemical leak at Freedom Industries coal plant along the Elk River. The plant says that this could be harmful if in contact of this chemical leak. They said the you can't take showers or even use sinks because it could be harmful. This chemicals' side effects are nausea, dizziness, vomiting and eye and skin irritation if in contact of this chemical. They also said that it could take several more days before there is clean water and if you could use the water.
My question from me to you guys is, What actions should this plant take and should the West Virginia government take actions against the plant?

Good job replying once again!
I think that the plant should have to supply the affect areas with the necessary things to survive in these conditions and or find an adequate place for the people to go that provide safe amenities.
I think the plant should be closed. They should also apologize to the people affected from the water loss.
I agree. But I don't agree with it shutting down. I think they should just be shut down until the investigation is closed.
This is not a good situation at all. First the plant should apologize to all the people that were effected by this spill. I read that a organization based in West Virginia sent 200,000 water bottles to the effect area of the spill. The government should really relocate the plant to a safer place.
I agree. They should just move it to another place. But what if they do it again?
HUGE deal! they should be immediately shut down until investigations take place. not only will this effect the water for weeks but the animal population for years. what will happen if someone eats a dear that has been drinking from this chemical infested water. or a fisherman eats a Brown trout soaked in chemical waste. this should never happen and is unacceptable.
I agree with that answer Curtis. What if they do this and bring one of these chemical infested animals to another state and it would just spread. So good answer.
What a very serious and dangerous situation. Not being able to shower for a long time could get pretty bad. I think there needs to be some sort of punishment against the plant after they get the problem fixed.
I agree with that answer Laura. They should just be penalized.
