Have you ever been around a deaf person? Many deaf people have ways they sign certain people's names. There is nothing wrong with that...or is there? A deaf preschooler in Grand Island was told to change the way he signed his name, because they were afraid it looked like he was shooting a gun, and that violated school policy. His father started a Facebook page trying to get people to support his son in letting him keep his sign the way it is. The school is trying to figure out the best possible way to handle the situation with the family. I believe that since the little boy has grown up with that sign for his name, that he should be able to keep it. The school cannot force the child to change it. It is how he has done things. Personally, I understand why the school is worried. Because if the little boy walked up to someone and signed that, they could take that the wrong way. But also, if he was signing, and then used the sign for Hunter, then they would realize he was deaf. This sign has even bee approved by the SEE. What are your thoughts?
