Last Tuesday the Centers for Disease Control warned Americans to start preparing for a coronavirus outbreak in the US. Dr. Nancy Messonneir from the CDC said "What is not known is when it will arrive and how severe a U.S. outbreak might be." According to the article, people should be making plans about what they will do if the virus spreads thoughout US communities. The secretary of US Human Health and Services asked lawmakers to approve 2.5 billion dollars to help fight the spread of the disease. It is beleived that the risk for individuals in the American public is low right now, but that could change. The virus came from illeagal wildlife sold in the city of Wuhan in China. While the virus appears to have peaked in China, it is still growing in places like South Korea, Iran, and Italy. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Iran may have covered up information about the spread of the virus there. Pompeo said that censoring information like this can have deadly consequences, simmilar to the way it did in the 2002-2003 SARS outbreak in China.

I think there could be, but it definetly won't be as bad as it was in China.

I think they might have done it as a way to prevent people from panicking, but in doing so they made it worse.

I think that there is always the possibility of it spreading anywhere, but it might not be as severe as it is in China, becuase china has a lot of other rural and poor communities that the virus easily spread in.
I think they may have do it to not cause a panick but it could go both ways, it could also started a panick because their are more places that now have the virus. Iran also could have used the virus as a biological weapon against other threatening countries that are against them
I think their could be a chance to have outbreaks in highly populated areas that are more dense in people and also not as clean and sanitary as other places. Since people keep on coming from china to the U.S I think their migjht be slim chance
I think there will be an outbreak in the U.S. but if we could figure something out about how to stop it then we should be fine. I twas probably because they didn't want people to panick and all this could have been prevented if they would have said something.
I don't think the US coronavirus outbreak will be as bad. It's a bit less crowded here than in China. The disease is only in quarantine here, so it should be better. It still has the potential to be devestating, though.
I think information is being censored to stop people from moving around to keep the virus in one place. National panics probably cause a large quantity of people to leave the country.
I agree that if there is an outbreak here that it won't be as bad as in China since the US is much less crowded. Since people in the US who have it are in quarantine that should limit the spread. I agree that other countries might be censoring information to keep people from leaving.
I dont really think that the coronavirus will spread that big in America because many people are in isolation and they have stopped flights to china to keep the disease there. I think that Iran did what they did to keep people calm but i also think that they made the spread worse since nobody knew to be careful with symptoms.
I agree that people being kept in isolation will limit the spread of the disease in the US. Stopping flights to china will also help a lot with disease spreading. I think that Iran tried to keep everyone calm but caused people to not know they have the disease when they censored information. Since the people did not know they had it, they might have spread it.
There will be an outbreak, but the virus won't be too extreme. Probably to protect people but in doing so they cause more problems, like more fear, maybe more deaths, and less treatment.
