The whole coronavirus situation is getting crazy and people are acting insane over it. People are going crazy buying out everything at stores and creating lots of problems for people who actually need supplies. One problem that has occured from people buying out everything is that toilet paper is running low. The Newport Oregon police department has been posting on their facebook page quite often since the outbreak of the coronavirus. They have a serious concern that they have to post about. They have been asking people to stop calling 911 when they run out of toilet paper. As crazy as it sounds, this is actually happening quite frequently to their police department. On thier post about people calling 911 they said that there are plenty of alternatives for toilet paper that people can use. This is their way of trying to get people to stop calling them when they run out of toilet paper.
How do you think that the whole toilet paper situation started?
I think that a couple of people bought toilet paper because they were going to be quarentined. Then people heard that stores were going to run out of toilet paper and went crazy buying as much as they could.
Do you think that the coronavirus is being blown out of proportion? Why or why not?
I think that to some extent it is being blown out of proportion. People should not be buying out stores and staying completely out of the public because of it. However, it is a big medical concern so people should still be careful.

I do think that it is being blown out of proportion because it hasn't killed a lot of people. I think people are freaking out about it because it is a new disease. Ebola was a much worse disease and we beat that. People need to stop freaking out about it and calm down.
The toilet paper thing could've happened because people didn't want to come out of their house because they didn't want infected. They were worried about running out of toilet paper because that would be unforunate. It also could be because they wanted to sell it for an outragous amount.
I agree that the toilet paper thing probably started because everyone was afraid that they were not going to be able to get any, since everone was buying it. I think the coronavirus is being blown out of proportion. I agree that people shouldn't be buying stores out of stuff. It is definetly still a concern though.
I think the situation started with people taking loads of toilet paper. Of course the stores running out worried people so then more came to buy toilet paper. I think some towns are being too careful and some aren’t careful enough. Even though this is a virus, there’s been very few cases in Iowa, so our stores shouldn’t be as empty as they are.
I have also wondered if the stores started some of the rumors about toilet paper running out. I'm sure that they knew that people would go crazy if toilet paper was "running out" and start eventually buying them out. I agree that some towns are being too careful. I know that people want to stay safe but it's harming the economy and could start a recession or a depression.
I do think that the coronavirus is being blown out of proportion because the flu is worse than corona and when people get the flu we dont cancel school and stop all major sporting event because of it. I just think that we should keep on going with life.
I agree that it's being a little blown out of proportion. More people have died from the flu than from the corona. However, the mortality rate of the coronavirus is bigger and that's why it's a little more scary. I don't think it's as scary as people are making it seem though. I get why school's in China are getting cancelled but I think that lots of schools in the U.S.A. don't need to be closed.
I understand that people would be scared of the virus, but the way that people are acting from the virus is crazy. The virus is also is being out of proportion. Sure, it can kill but with proper cleaning you should be good.
I agree that people are acting crazy about the coronavirus. The fact that people are calling 911 over being out of toilet paper is just ridiculous. I also agree that it's being blown out of proportion to some extent. I think that as long as people as careful and watch their hands (like you said) people should be fine.
