Families were caught off guard by the wildfires in Northern California, some only smelling smoke or hearing dogs bark. Many counties warned their areas different ways than surrounding counties. Agencies were confused on why the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system was not used. (This alert goes off on your phone directly from the president similar to an amber alert). In California, alerts and warnings only happen on a local level deciding what would be the best way to let residents know what is happening. Some counties were required to sign up for SoCoAlerts which can send you alerts on your phone (similar to the WEA). In other counties, many people are complaining about not getting alerted, or getting alerted too late.

Questions:
1) How would you want to be alerted/warned if you were in this situation?
2) How would you feel if you were alerted late or not at all?
Answers:
1)Personally I would like to be alerted by getting a warning on my phone. I sleep with my phone next to me each night, and I would for sure hear the warning go off.
2) I would not be happy, because I could of had more time to grab valuable items and get to safety faster.

I wouln't be to worried if i was warned fast enough to get out of there and still be alive. I would do anything to get as far away from the fire as i could but that still would be really scary running through a burning forest.
IT wouldn't matter how i was warned as long as i was warned and that id be able to get out. well i would probably be scared that wouldn't make it out and would try to make my way as far away as i could from the fires.
I would want to be notified via the news if i was in this situation. i cant say fr other people but i am an avid news watcher so for me this would work out just fine with me. I would probably be extremely mad i mean thats not something that is easy to recover from.
1. I think a text or alert on my phone would be the way that would benefit me the most.
2.I would be super angry because it might cost me my life.
I would want someone to call or come to the door and tell me about the situation. If I were alerted late I would be very mad because I would not have time to get all my things that are special to me out of there in time.
I would want to know what ever is going on around me. I would really want want know if there was a fire going on. I feel like they are not paying attention because it was n the news and everybody knew there were fire in California
Great job Lauren!
Of course I would like to be alerted! An emergency text would be much appreciated. I would be extremely angry if I was alerted late or never because it could affect my life and my family's lives.
I would be very upset as well if I didn't get alerted at all, or late, it couldn't have been to difficult to send out a message. Texts, and many other ways would have been appreciated in that situation.
I would want a warning on my phone because I'm normally always on my phone and know I would see it that way. If I was alerted when it was too late and I was already stuck in the house while on fire I would be very mad and also probably dead. If they wouldn't send out a alert at all would be messed up because they obviously could of and people could of saved somethings.
