California State Flag
As I am sure many of you have seen or some may possibly own the California state flag logo, it represents a white backround, a grizzly bear on a grass slope, with a red bar spanning across the bottom and red star in the top left corner.
Before the mid-1800s, thousands of grizzly bears could be found across California. So much that the animal became the state's official animal. Nowadays, all of the grizzlies are gone. What changed, then, in the mid-1800s? The states Gold rush. Between then and 1922, almost every living grizzly in the state of California was captured or killed. And all it got was a lousy flag. The last bear repoted living in the wild was in 1924 it was also the last of its sub-species of grizzly bear. There were about 10,000 grizzly bears before there hunting and then extermination. All grizzlys are sub species or brown bear.
One question that locals are asking are asking about them today is weather or not the bears could be reintroduced into the state, but that raises some more questions that need answers frist, Where would the grizzlies come from? What would they eat? Where would they live? How might they affect the modern environment? How would they be received by locals? People want this becuase it would be good for thr country as only around 1,700 grizzlys live in the lower 48 states.
Although one problem I see with this is that the bears would be introduced into reserves this is fine, but they might be taken from their natural habitat or other reserves and this causes stress and they wouldnt get along with the others they live with. The idea behind wanting to reintroduce the bears back into the state is a great idea but they just quite dont fit there anymore and it would be a bad thing to just move them into reserves rather than their natural habitat.

I don't think the flag should be changed because it represents a proud animal that was apart of their history and of their past. I think grizzlie bears should be reintroduced because it is a natural habitat for them and they would probably love to call it home once again. I think more and more people are learning from their mistakes and less people are killing animals.
I think that changing the flag in not necessary. The flag has been representing the grizzly bears and the state of California for many years. I agree that a lot of animals are being killed every year, some need to be hunted otherwise they will over populate, but the animals that are in low numbers we need to protect.
I don't think it's a big deal to change the flag. Yes, the bear numbers are low, but I think he flag is historic. I think it would be a good idea, but they should be able to experience their natural habitat and how they woul dbe on their own. I think we all need to understand how many animals we kill each year. This will definilty be a big problem in the future. Hopefully people open their eyes and do something abuot it or it'll be too late.
I agree that the flag represents history, and people will probaly nevr learn that killing off animals is horrible and bad for the earth, we can never have them back and there will be no other animals like them to come. People need to stop killing off animals
In my opinion there is no reason to change the flag. It is just a bear, it is sad that their numbers are not as high as there were at one point, but they are still around. It shows the history of California putting the bear on the flag and I do not think that they should change it.
I agree, the flag should be kept and is good for representing history. It wouldnt be a good idea to add the bears back because they wouldnt have enough natural food and would have to invade the residential areas and possibly hurt humans.
I don't think there is any reason to change the flag to something different. It does not need to be changed. It has been this flag for so long there is not reason to change it now. Even though there are not any more bears really in California, I think it is ok to keep the bear on there. It shows history.
I agree that the flag represents history and shouldnt be changed because of that. The flag isnt being changed and isnt trying to be changed although if you didnt know the history behind the bears the flag wouldnt make sense and doenst seem to represent California.
I don't think that the flag shoukd be changed. I belive that it should stay the same because why do they think they should change it. I don't think that the grizzly should be reintroduced n California because there may nt be enough food in California for the bears and they should stay where they are at.
