The govener of California signed a bill called the Wildlife Protection Act of 2019 banning all types of trapping in the state. Many people in the state fought for their sportsmen rights but it wasnt enough. One problem of banning trapping is that woods will soon become overpopulated and disease will spread, pets may be killed by the animals, timbers and forest areas will also be very overpopulated. One problem with overpopulation is that animals will start moving into cities and causing threats to pets and kids. A coyote recently attacked a families pet and another coyote killed a cat in sombodys home. Its very dangerous to have them kinds of problems and trapping and hunting keeps the art alive and makes sure there is a good population balance. Most people are also eating the furbearing animals like beavers and selling the furs so the natural resource is not going to waist and it keeps kids doing something good and having fun outside.
Questions
1. Do you think the bill is helping or hurting the renewable resource of fur and why?
- I think that it is hurting the animals because once animals start moving to cities they will often cause trouble or get hit by cars and be waisted when somebody could have used it to make something. It has always been in American history and now there is regulations to make sure that species are not going extinct or endangered.
2. If you lived in California and activly trapped or hunted how would you feel about the bill?
- I would be very upset and dissipointed if the govener passed a bill to stop people from going outside and trapping and hunting. Some people get laid off during the winter months and trap to make enough money to get by, now they need to stop what they love and find a winter job doing something they probally wont enjoy when they want to be exploring and having a fun way to make some money.

Well done Jayden!
I agree that the bill is hurting the animals because if trapping is banned than the woods, or wherever the animals live, is going to become overpopulated and they could come into the cities which would create an ever bigger problem. I would be very upset and would have to find something else to do because if the bill was passed then that would stop people from going outside and hunting.
It is doing a little bit of both. It could help by repopulating larger animals food sources but overpopulation is definatly something to wory about.
I would be very upset and dissipointed if the govener passed a bill to stop people from going outside and trapping and hunting. Because some people get laid off during the winter months and trap or hunt to make extra money in the winter months.
I think that it is hurting because lots of people are complaining about them being in the cities and then they get killed anyway. Lots get hit by cars and then the animals fur is wasted but with trapping some people eat the animals. Most people that trap use all of the parts of an animals.
I think that this could potentially hut the fur industry but I also feel that it could be harmful to the natural wildlife at some point seeing as they could possibly overpopulate the forestlands which is dangerous. I feel like it will mostly cause discourse within the hunting community because hunting is a major pastime of many people and if I was a part of the hunting community I would most likely be angry about the bill.
If I lived in California I would be very angry. Like you said, the population will increase which causes diseases to spread, and overpopulation. The overpopulation will mean that small game animals will rise in numbers and they will run out of habitat which will cause them to move into towns and cities.
I don't believe that the bill will hurt the renewable resource of fur. This is because without people being able to hunt down animals there will be no way we can get the furs. Along with this, if I was an active trapper I would be understandably mad. They're taking away my right without any reason.
I would also be very mad and upset about the deal also. I dont think it will hurt the renewable resource but alot of animals will be wasted due to aacidents. There might be a lisence you can get to nusience trap to get animals out of backyards but they usually dont keep the fur.
If I lived in California and trapped I would be very angry. I would feel this way because they just took my pride and joy away from me. I would also want to protest and work my hardest for my rights back. Honestly from an outside perspective its no surprise that California would ban trapping.
