Butter Shortage in Norway

There has been higher prices and less butter in the country of Norway, because there is a new low-carb diet that says to eat more natural, home-cooked meals, so there is more butter being bought therefor causing prices in butter to rise making a shortage in butter.

I think this is kind of crazy, because this is all caused by a diet idea. I can't believe that people would buy that much butter, and it's dissapointing the norwegians because they need butter for their christmas cookies and whatnot, but they don't have any!!! That is so sad, because I love making christmas cookies and almost every single recipe that I use calls for butter, and if you don't have any, than you can't make the thing.

  • I feel bad for these people, because you need butter to make a lot of things. Not all the things that have butter in them are unhealthy!
  • Well it's what people want to eat and if they want to diet they can it's there own chose.

  • I don't see how butter is healthy? Like all it is larf and fat... well some of the kinds anyways. That is just really weird.
  • That's an interesting thing to have a shortage of. If they need to they could get some from other countries couldn't they? It's not like the United States has a shortage of butter or anything....

  • This is really weird that there is a shortage of butter? it just sounds weird!

  • i think thats crazy. butter is a main ingredient in lots of foods. sure its unhealthy but tons of foods are unhealthy. but butter you dont use that much anyways so why get rid of it?

  • this is not good! i out butter on everything! So you think it will ever be a problem to the US?

  • that would be insane. butter is such an important part of cultural foods.. for really any kind of culture. i hope they get through this butter crisis!

  • The whole country on a "less butter" diet? That's a little strange. Yes, pretty much every recipe calls for butter.

  • That is sad. You would think that since it was a diet idea, they would try to use, oh i don't know, LESS butter, not more. And just think of all of those little Norwegian kids that don't get that many Christmas cookies this year.
