Burger King's Newest Sandwich

A Burger King restaurant in New Zealand recently came out with a new sandwich. They call it the Chip Butty. Basically what it consists of is a bun and french fries with mayo and ketchup. Customers also have the option of getting the Chip Butty with Bacon. The chef that created this views it as a "happy culinary accident". The Chip Butty is probably really easy to make since restaurants fry the fries in mass quantities to make getting orders ready faster. However, in my opinion, I do not think that this sandwich is going to sell enough to be a permanent item on the menu. Sure this sandwich will be a hit at first,  with customers wanting to try it out. However, I think this idea would be more of a hit if they added fries with the hamburger patty. With this new creation being spread over social media, one of Burger King's rivals has started to throw some shade. Wendy's dished out a tweet saying " when literally anything would be better on a bun than their beef". This creation has yet to hit the US, making New Zealand customers the first to try out the new sandwich. As to whether this sandwich will eventually make its way to Burger King chains in the US, it is uncertain.

  • Well done Ania! Be sure to comment on three different days.

  • I don't think it will get to the US or other areas unless the Chip Butty gets larger recognition, if people talk about it more it could be made by US chains for profit. I think it could be good, there'd be less calories due to the lack of beef and it could certainly be tasty.

  • I think that Americans will eat anything if you slather it in ketchup and mayonaise. I'm sure that this will make it to America soon and will probably be of cultural significance just like every other time the giant fast food companies like Burger King and McDonalds releases some new disgusting menu item. It's strange to compare this to the menu that McDonalds had when they first began in the 1960s.

  • I hope that Burger King's new sandwich won't make it to the US chains because it looks and sounds gross. But who knows, becuase there have been many other random sandwiches that have made their way on to the menus like and were then discontinued.

  • I do think that this new sandwhich will make its way to the US because it sounds very tasty and it has bacon on it making it even better. Also I would love to try this burger because it sounds like something that I would find very tasty because of the bacon and french fries.

    • And even if this sandwich does not exactly fill the customer up considering there is no meat, (unless you get the Chip Butty with Bacon), it would be a great snack for people to purchase when they are not totally hungry and just want a small snack.

  • I do not think that Burger King will bring this new sandwich to the US chains. Burger King has done this before where they have kept burgers that originate in that country to stay in that specific chain. But the new creation does not seem like something out of the ordinary from Burger King but it looks like something definetly something worth trying.

    • I think that this would be a fun experiment for Burger King to try out on their menu. This sandwich is not hard at all to make, and the fry lovers of the world would really enjoy this sandwich.

  • I do believe that if the sandwich continues to have this high amount of sales then the American people would like it, and if you think about it if it does not work they would probably just take it off the menu. I think this a lot of people already do this and makes sense to sell a sandwich to all the fry lovers. Depending on the price, I would most likely give it a try.

    • I agree with your answer! There are many fry lovers out there and it is kind of smart in a way to create a sandwich that would perfectly suit them!
