Douglas Waterman was a manager at Burger King in Conway, New Hampshire. He is now facing assault charges for throwing sauce at a customer. Courtney Butler, the customer, stated that she went up to return her burger, which had no bun on it. She mentioned to the police that the manager was yelling at her, then he picked up some sauce, threw it, and some of it landed on her shirt. Douglas told the police that he was verbally assaulted first, but eventually admitted to throwing the sauce. This then led him to be arrested.
Further in the article it mentioned other incidents of Burger King employee's being impolite. To read more click HERE.
I think it is absurd to be a grown adult and throw something at your customer. I believe he should have been mature and dealt with the situation in a completely different manner. I feel that Douglas should have been fired and definitely charged for what he did. The article did not mention what kind of money charges he faced, or how long he would remain in jail.
Questions:
1) What would you do if you were the customer that got sauce thrown on you?
2) How do you think Douglas, the manager, should have handled the situation?

Well done Lexie!
If I got sauce thrown on me at any restaurant by any employee I would never return there again. As a worker at these places it is part of your job to remain calm and handle the situation as peacefully, maturely and responsibly as you can. If I were Douglas I would have calmly taken the burger back and done what she asked in a timely matter. I also would have apologized right away.
I don't know what I would do I would probably do something I wasn't supposed to like get into a fight with the guy. But if I wasn't Extremely mad I would probably just let it go and maybe never go back to that resturant. I think he should have just said sorry and given her a bun, because everyone knows that it is such a big deal when burger king messes up your order.
If I were the customer that got sauce thrown at would be very mad but I would try to make him apologize and do what was right before going to the cops. I would make sure that he made me a new burger personally. I think he should have just taken the burger back and made the customer a new one for free. Instead he raged and is now arrested.
If I were the customer I would have left right away mad. I would be a little surprised at first that he actually threw the sauce, but I would then just leave. The manager should have just tried to talk to the customer about the problem and try to fix it first. Instead of throwing the sauce he should have talked to the customer and maybe offered to give a bun or a new sandwich, he should of handled it more like an adult.
I would of walked out of the store and called the cops. He should of just fixed what was wrong.
I would probably handle the situation myself. I think he should have made her a new burger with a bun on it.
Honestly I would probably be to shocked to do anything at first. After that I think my first thought wouldn't be calling the police but I would still do something to make sure the employee would get fired or have other consequences. Douglas should have been calm and not yell etc. and if he wasn't capable of that then have someone else handle the situation for him.
I would probably start laughing and be confused if the manager threw sauce at me. For the manager a better way to have handled the situation was to have probably get the customer a new burger.
I would have done the same exact thing but probably not as nice. The manager should be fired and charged for whats coming his way. He was very immature and shouldn't have acted like a child to his own customer. They shouldn't allow him back into their restaurant ever again.
