Bullet Proof

In recent news researchers at the Rice University are looking for a material to stop a 9mm bullet and close behind it.  In their tests they shot tiny glass beads at their new material, which effectively stopped them in their path. They stated that it could be used for windshields or lighter armor for soldiers.  This mystery substance is non-other than polystyrene-polydimethylsiloxane diblock-copolymer.

In my opinion this will make our soldiers safer in their efforts to protect us.

  • If it actually does work i think that the soldiers would be happy about that so that they don't have to lug around as much weight as they do now.

  • That's cool that they found a stronger but lighter bullet proof substance to keep the soldiers safe!

  • Sure it can protect from a 9mm handgun, but what about a fully automatic assault rifle?  Sure only a round or two usually only hits, but they are a lot bigger!

  • I think it is great that they take the time to look into these things and to improve them. However, I have no idea what the long word you used at the end is.

  • This is really cool. I think a lot of soldiers will feel safer wearing this vest while on the battlefield. Hopefully it will save many lifes too.

  • I've never heard of polystyrene, but it sounds cool. Lighter armor for soldiers would be great, and tougher windshields would be good too. Lighter, stronger armor will be great for many uses.

  • I think that it will help the soldiers because it is much lighter and stronger. I also think that the other uses are very cool.

  • I think that this is a great thing that the university did. Whatever makes the soldiers safer is great news for people with friends and family in fighting for our country.

  • This is an amazing breakthrough in technology to help our troops and armed forces. My cousin is a state trooper and has to wear a bullet proof vest also. I hope they can start distributing this new material as soon as possible to all of the armed forces to better keep them safe.

  • I think this will save many lives in battle. It's awesome they can make bullet proof....polystyrene whatever that is. That stuff sound tough. I hope it will help the soldiers a major lot.
