April 8th, 2021 Larry Bollin a 27 year old man opended fire at a cabinet making company he had worked at. Larry had killed one person and wounded five others including a state patrol officer prior to his arrest. Late last night he was taken into Brazos county detention center, he was charged with murder and a bond was set at 1 million dollars. The police cheif of Bryan, Texas said that he dosen't know the motive to the shooting. They had confirmed that the man he had killed was 40 year old Timothy Smith. Two of the others he had shot are in critical condition and one is in stable conditon. The officer that tried to take Larry into custody that had been shot is also in stable condition. Calls started coming in at around 2:30 about an active shooter in the facility.
One of the co-workers said she heard several booms and she thought it was a machanic problem. As she was walking she was grabed and told to run when they got outside they saw the shooter outside to and then they ran back inside and hid for over 10 minutes in a really tiny place. She told reporters " I think im very lucky and blessed to be talking to you at this very moment.
I think having tougher gun laws in this situation wouldn't have done much because it might of stopped that person from having that gun he used but he was still going to get a gun illegally. I don't know what we can do to stop these other than gun laws I think family backround checks to see if there have been mental issues in your family it will make it harder for you to get a gun.
Do you think that if we had tougher gun laws, that this would've happend.
How do you think we can stop all these mass shootings, and not just by having tougher gun laws.

Sam,
Yoru topic choice really led into gun control which was a topic we just had last week. Try picking topics that haven't been done much before. Good job replying to people!
I think this still would have happend if they were tougher gun laws. Tougher gun laws will not decrease the amount of shootings and or criminal activity. If he could not have legally purchased a gun he would have been able to get one illegally pretty easy. If you take away guns criminals will use other things to kill people and really it will be much more grusum.
I think people that have a record should have a very long process before they are able to get a gun and have to have the charge occured a long time ago however I don't think that good people should have to wait a long time to get a gun if they have never did anything wrong.
Despite mass shootings occuring the fact still remains that making gun laws tighter is not going to make these shootings stop. I only say this because there are so many things that are illegal and that the government tries to stop. Teens still mannage to get into illegal substances, drugs are illegal in some states though people still have them in those states. Murder is illegal though it is committed every day. Trying to control these mass murders by trying to take the weapon is not the answer. And quite frankly I dont think it will ever be.
I totally agree with you "8big chase" I also think there is almost no way you can stop these types of things even if they would try to band guns. When they tried do ban alchohal in the early 1920s people smuggled it or even made their own. People do not realize the amount of people that could manufacture a gun on their own in their house or shop or garage they have.
The problem with the logs about how people are doing mental is that they are outdated. Because of that people that might have been ok to get a gun 20 years ago are not good to get one but the logs are not right. I think that the government needs to do more about this.
I think if we had stricter and tougher gun laws that this still would've happened because in my opion I dont thin its the guns that are killing people. Its the people that kill people. There really is no ways to stop gun violence because no matter what we do with our gun laws the people who shouldnt have guns are gonna find a way to get guns no matter how tough our gun laws are/get.
If we had stricter and tougher gun laws this still wouldv'e happen, but I think it wouldv'e happened in a different way. I am saying of they are mental they wouldv'e done something to them anyways with or without a gun. The gun is just the equipment not the main problem. If their is a mass of people together their is probably a reason and whatever that reason is use that to add securities/other things to keep safe. Also if their are a lot of people together you should be on guard all the time, because their is a lot of human nature there.
I dont think a gun law would have changed anything because they would have gotten a gun illegally. I do think there should be better sercerity if they got the gun in. But I dont think gun law dont have anything to do with it because they would have found a way.
If we had tougher gun laws it wouldn't have helped since he got the gun illegally. No amount fo governmental support could stop this except cops catchting the supplier. Honestly, if we look at other countries that have close to no gun laws there are barely any shootings. This is probably because for every bad person with a gun there will probably be 3 or 4 good people with one.
