A young boy was found locked up in a bathroom in his home in Utah, by his mother. Authorities said, the mother of the boy locked him in the bathroom from the outside for as long as 2 years. The boy's father found him laying on the floor of the bathroom with a blanket. An emergency room doctor said it was one of the worst case of malnutrition he had seen. When his father found him he only weighed 30 pounds, the boy is 12. There were 2 other sibling in the house but they didn't look abused, according to the police.
Authorities said that they found empty bean cans and a spoon in the shower were the drain was covered in duct tape, the toilet was filled with feces and no water, the light switch was duct-taped in the off position. They also said the mother set up a video camera so she could monitor him on her cellphone, she also put a baby monitor in the bathroom so she could give the boy instructions but he could not reply. Doctors said the boy would have to be hospitalized for 3 weeks to get him healthy again.The boys mom claimed that he wanted to sleep in the bathroom, she also locked him for his own safety when she left the house. The mother was charged with one count of felony child abuse.

My Opinion: I have no idea to why the mother did this to her son. The only reason i can think of would be because she loved the other children more. If i had found the boy i would do exactly what the father did and on the way to the hospital i would call the police and tell them what happened. I think that the other children in the house didn't tell anyone because they were probably afraid that this would happen to them and that no one would probably believe them.

She probably isn't mentally stable and she is crazy. I call 911 and do anything I could to help the boy. The other children probably didn't tell anyone because she probably threatened them if they did.
She had to of done this because she is crazy and her head isn't right. To do this to someone who doesn't deserve it is horrific. I would help him all I could and call emergency services right away. I don't think they told anyone because they were scared of what their mom would do to them.
I think that the mom did this because the son was probably a child that the mother didn't want. I know cases like this are very common, where the mother doesn't want her first kid but loves all of her other children. If I was the one who found the boy I would have been very mad. No child deserves to be treated like that. I think that the other children didn't tell anyone because they thought that they would get in trouble for telling anyone.
I agree with Abbie, to do something this horrific to a living person it would have to be someone that no one wanted. In this case, its the mother of the child. No child deserved to receive that kind of treatment.
That is really bad and honestly she should be locked up and have her kids and everything she owns taken away from her.
She either thought that she actually was protecting him or she thought that he was a nuisance and that she should of never had him, but to me it seems we might not have the whole entire story and it seems there might be some kind of personal thing obviously, if i had found him i would feed him. Because they either didnt know about him or were to young to know any better or was threatened or they were in on the act to.
I can't think of a legit reason as to why she would do that to her kid. That's just out of this world to do something like that. If I found this boy in the bathroom I would want to get him back to actually being healthy again and get him out of that house. The other kids maybe didn't say much because the mom told them not to and they would get in trouble.
I have no idea why anyone would ever want to do this to anyone, let alone their own child! I can only think that the mother had some sort of mental illness. I would be horrified if I found the boy, but I would immediately do everything I could to help him. I think that the mother was extremely controlling, and probably forced the other children to keep quiet.
This mother is pretty insane to lock her son inside a bathroom for 2 whole years! Also, the fact that this she taped of the bathtub and the light switch shows her cruelty. If I had found that boy at 30 pounds I would not think that child was 12 years old. I think that the other children didn't tell anyone because they were extremely afraid of their mom and thought that they would end up like their brother.
This is crazy! Honestly, this is so terrible it makes me scared what other people are doing in the world. I don't see how any human could do this to ANY other living thing. The mother is not even a mother the way she has acted and should be punished greatly. Another one of the worst parts is that the other siblings didn't even say anything to protect their brother! I feel so awful for the boy and I hope he gets better as soon as possible. The fact that he was tortured for so long just is unthinkable. It is incredible how strong he is.
