Boston University students discover 1915 time capsule

Three Boston University working summer jobs discovered one of the oldest time capsules very. Emma P, Sarah M and Adam M, found the time capsules after sorting through boxes at their summer job working at the university. Emma was the one to find the capsules. Emma had said that it was a box in a box, the size of a toaster. A couples things they found in it was a 102 year old newspaper, a manual of Massachusetts court from 1914. Also found a quarter from 1894 and a map of the subway.

Questions-

1. If you were to make a time capsule, what would you put in it?

2. Where would you put the time capsule at?

My answer- I would put a newspaper and a phone in to have people that open it see how the phones were then. I would put it in my house hidden somewhere good where it would be hard to find.

  • Well done overall. I do think your questions could have been stronger. , especially question #2.

  • I would put in a letter about my life and just talking about things happening now. I would also put in a quarter just to see how much it ages sitting in the time capsule. I would put it somewhere meaningful to me or my family for the future generations to find.

  • I would put a newspaper and a letter to let the reader know what was happening in the world at that time, I would bury it in my yard so no one could find it forever.

    • I like the idea of what to put into the box. The letter is a very good one. I would also put it in my yard and put maybe 100 years from now or so someone would find it.

  • If I put a time capsule together I would put an Iphone, money, and stuff like who is president and what is going on in the world. I would maybe put the capsule by the school or on the square, somewhere where someone can find it.

    • Who is president is a very good idea. Then people really have to think what was going on back then with that certain president. Yes I agree where someone can find it.

  • 1. I would defiantly put some things that are near and dear to my heart like a Harlan shirt, a newspaper to the most recent date, and most importantly a hand written letter to myself from my past self.

    2. I would bury it next to my house because that is the only place I would remember to dig it up.

    • I like the idea of the Harlan shirt because what if the logo chances. I would bury it in my yard too because it's very easy to remember.

  • I would put random things in my time capsule, such as a pen, a few dollars or maybe a newspaper like you. But I would also put a picture of me or my house or something like that in it (of course signed with date and name), maybe a description of my everyday life, a short diary and also a list of what I wish for the future.

It’s really hard to think of a place where the time capsule could be for more than 100 years. But I think I would bury it deeply somewhere in my yard or in a park..

    • Yes I like the idea of everyday life because who knows what it might be like later on. In a park is a good Idea because then it is more likely to get dug up from someone.
