Wayne Huizenga, founder of Blockbuster Video, died Friday March 23rd. He was the only entrepeneur to found three different fortune 500 companies. Blockbuster was a company that provided movie, television, and video game rental services from 1985 when it was founded, until 2014 when all stores closed. His other two companies, Waste Mangament and AutoNation, are still at the top in their fields. Huizenga started his career on the back of a garbage truck, then he took off. He owned three South Florida professional sports teams at one point in his life.
1. How do you think his businesses took off so quickly?
2. Was Blockbuster an important part in the movie industry? Why or why not?
1. I think him being in South Florida was a crucial part in his businesses gaining so quickly. There is a lot of money in the area so people are able to buy in to new ideas more easily.
2. I think Blockbuster was vital in movies gaining as much capital as they did back then. Before streaming was a thing, every family that needed a movie would try to go to a Blockbuster Video to rent a movie or game.

Be sure to comment three different days. Your summary is ok. It needs passion.
I'm not sure why his company took off or which company started up first but he was probably very persuasive and determined to start it up. I don't remember blockbuster that much but I think it helped the movie industry because more people were able to access the videos and it probably made for a lot of profit back when more people were renting the movies before it started downhill towards every store closing.
I think that his buisness took off because he got into the buisness with the right people, and he was in Florida, so they have a bigger entertainment buisness than some other areas. I think that Blockbuster was good for the movie industry because people could rent a movie whenever they wanted, and then if they liked it a lot, they might buy it for themselves. I lived in a big city when I was younger and I went to Blockbuster almost weekly to get new movies to watch.
I think his businesses took off because it was a new idea that maybe not many people had heard of in the area he was in. Blockbuster waas a huge part of the movie industry because that's how people rented movies when they couldn't stream them.
I think that his business took off so fast because he came up with an idea to start a business of something that people were interested in. I think it was an important piece of the movie industry, even though I am not extremely familiar with it.
People being interested in the movies definintely helped the business take off. The movie industry gained a lot of extra money with these businesses. I used to go to blockbuster every time I was in Omaha to get movies.
I think movies and stuff like that were a very popular thing and when buying them for full price it can get very expensive so that's where the great things about renting comes in. I think so I always remember going to Blockbuster and getting to pick out a movie and it was pretty fun for me to see all of the movies.
his business took off so quickly because he choose a busniess selling a comodity people were intrested in. when you consider how many movies, video games ect. are watched or played it would be a great oppertunity. he also would have to have a clever brain and great management skills in order to run so many companies at once.
I think he was a smart business man and had great opportunities ahead of him. Blockbuster I'm not personally familiar with but I'm sure it's very important to the movie industry.
He had to have had something going for him not only to own Blockbuster and have it take off so much, but to have his other 2 companies take off so quickly and extensively.
