For my opinion I think it wasn't right because no one should get treated differently from other people just because of their color.

Back then Black people were treated different because of their color, they were not given respect or kindness. Some people would call them bad names and beat them. There was also certain rules that the had to follow that were different that Whites didn't have to follow. They would have to drink from a water fountain that said blacks only and they were only supposed to sit back in the bus too and Black children wasn't allowed to go to school with White children. I think all of that wasn't fair just because of their skin color, everyone is human and no one should be treated differently for how they look. There are some Black hero's who have inspired us for all of that. Like Rosa Parks for an example, when she got on the bus the driver asked her to go to the back but she refused to move from her spot because thats she wanted to sit so she ended up getting arrested and the same thing happend again.

She spoke for her rights and completed them, some people were inspired by her of for what she did, same thing with Martin Luther King Jr. he spoke for his rights and made things right, some black people are mistreated to this day which is sad but they should stand up for their rights and say "hey I'm no different from you, I'm a human being just like you and no other, you should treat me with respect as anyone else".  I don't think whites are the only racist ones, people from different parties can be racist too

Just because someone' a different color doesn't mean you should treat them differently and be disrespectful to them

  • Well done overall Jennifer! Be sure to reply back a few more times next time -three per page.

  • Treating someone unfairly because of their race is completely wrong. There have been other commenters who have said that that statement was basically common knowledge, and while I'm very glad you would think that it was just normal to assume that everyone in America agreed, im sad to disappoint you. There are still so many white people in America and frankly around the world that think they are naturally advanced just because their skin color is white. They think that it's okay to treat someone differently based on their race, and they think its fine to hold prejudices against someone simply because they were born from black parents. I wish that it was common knowledge to not be so outwardly racist like that, but it still very much happens.

  • I feel like to this day it is common sense that everyone is human and should be treated equally, but the question "Do you think it was for black people to be treated differently," is basically common sense and the clear answer is it wasn't fair. Everyone should be treated with the same respect no matter what race they are.

    • Thats what I mean't that everyone shouldn't be treated badly because of their skin color, like black and whites and people from other parties should be treated with respect

  • I think that it doesn't matter your skin color and that you should be treated the same, and that it was not good that they used to get treated that and that they still shouldn't get treated the way they do. I know things aren't as easy for them still but it has gotten a lot better, and that they still need to be treated the same.

  • I think the color of your skin doesn't matter, we are all the same meaning we are all human. I don't think it was right the way black people were treated, it was done out of hatred and for what. Skin color doesn't matter, eveyone should be treated the same because it's the respectful thing to do.

  • The color of your skin shouldn't matter at all. We're all equal and human. It's horrible to think that it once divided so many on whether or not a human being should have rights. Ethinic groups have taken strides in demanding justice and equality, which is truly inspiring and amazing.

  • I think that no matter what color you should be treated right and it isn't fair just because of your color that you can't do certain things or go certain places it shows a lot of disrespect and I don't understand why they have to be put down and aren't allowed to do the same things as others.

  • I think that people who have a different color of skin should not be treated differently and having slaves was very wrong. But the rioting that has been going on for BLM is not necessary at this time because I feel like there's not much discrimination lately. And only saying white people are racist is not right because there are plenty of non-white people that are racist also. But, no I do not think that we should treat people differently because of their skin color.

    • I agree with you and I know that not only whites can be racist because I said that not only whites are becuae other people from different races can be too
