Big Diamond

In recent news a diamond named the Archduke Joseph Diamond was sold at an auction for almost $21.5 million. The diamond is a 10.48 carat diamond and was expected to only go for $4.5 million. The buyer has asked to remain anonymous and is going to donate the diamond to a museum.

I feel that this is a huge waste of money that could go toward better causes.

What is your view?

Wow. That guy has a lot of money if he can afford to buy a diamond for 21 and a half million dollars and the donate it to a museum. I can think of a hundred other ways to spend that money that would help people.

I think it's great that he is donating it to the museum. It allows for more people to be able to go and see it. I think he overpaid for it though. Especially if it was only expected to go for 4.5 million. I think he could have used his money for something better, considering he just gave it to a museum right away

That is so crazy to spend 21.5 million dollars. I'm sure the buyer was very wealthy anyway, especially if they had that much money to spend and then donate the diamond.

The guy that bought the diamond must have been really rich to buy it for that much and then give it away.

I personally agree with you, Paul. I think it is a giant waste of money that could have been used somewhere else. But to each their own I guess.

Obviously this man has more money than he knows what to do with because if i even had 21.5 million dollars i would not just spend it on a diamond and then give it away! He probably wanted to remain anonymous because a lot of people would think he was out of his mind just donating the diamond. This is definitely pointless, to me, but to him he might of thought it would be of better use in the museum!

Wow that is a big diamond, and costs A LOT! I think he did a good thing by giving it to a museum. Then he will know that is safe for the most part, and he don't have to worry about loosing it!

who would be able to afford that, then just donate it away? If i spent 21.5 million dollars on a diamond i think i would be keeping it even though i don't know what the heck i would do with it.

I think it was a stupid idea to donate the diamond to a museum after buying it. What is the point of that? I also think it was a huge waste of money.
