The Big 10 and Pac 12 decided to cancel their fall sports seasons due to covid 19. They think by doing so the players are less likely to contract the virus. I believe people are just as likely to contract it by doing everyday things such as going to the grocery store as they are when playing football. Many of the people associated with the program are not happy with the decisions. So many of the players come from bad backgrounds and going to college and playing these sports helps them get away from those and better themselves. I think they rushed the decision a little bit they should have waited unitl the season got a little closer and seen how the numbers looked.
Questions?
Do you think canceling the seasons was a good idea?
Do you think they rushed the decision?

Great topic choice Michael! I do think you could have expanded a bit more in your summary. You repied to everyone which is great but next time, be sure to reply on three different days.
I think it was a bad idea. I think they should of just let them played then if they team get COVID then cancel their season for 2 weeks or for however long. Most of the team lives in the same hall or the same area so they are not in contact with very many people. Also playing sports in college is like a full-time job. Everything they do revolves around their sports and are with them 24/7. I do believe they rushed it a little early. They should have waited and if it got bad then cancel.
I agree with you that it was a bad idea. I also agree that they should have let them play and if they got COVID they should just take two weeks off and let everything settle. Also if it got to bad they could just cancel the whole season.
I agree, many people have cancelled there seasons way too early. I would understand if their city had a lot of case, but with them cancelling their season earlier they had many months to watch and see how many cases there were. Then if there weren't many then they could've had a season. I also agree that they have equal chances of getting the virus doing everyday activities. I believe they cancelled their seasons way too early and they could've had a season.
I agree that they have canceled there seasons to early. I would also understand if their city had a lot of cases. I agree that they have the same chance of getting covid from playing than doing everyday activities.
I can see why they stop sports for now but I do agree that people can get the virsu doing everyday things. I think the decision was a little rushed but also with sports comes fans. Some places are recording the games and then going public with the games so I think if they did that it would be more safe.
I agree that they can get the virus from doing everyday things. I also agree that the decision was a little rushed. With the fans tho they can find ways to get the fans interacted during the game with stuff like virtual or the cardboard cutouts.
I agree with you. I also think they made the decision a little too early. If highschool can have football so should college. Although there are way more fans at college games, they could make more rules to be in the game in order to keep everyone safe and healthy. Also for some players football is the only thing they look forward too and some focus on football all year around to get ready for their season.
I agree that they rushed the decision a little too early. I also agree that if highschools can have their seasons colleges can have their seasons. I also agree that they could have came up with more ways to keep everybody safe.
I agree. They definetely jumped the gun on canceling sports. I don't think they took into consideration that football was most of the athletes tickets out of a bad life. They are less likely to spread COVID because teams would most likely be extra cautious than if you were back at your hometown.
