Biden's 1.9 trillion Covid relief bill

Covid is Still one of the important topics, and families are still struggling to make ends meet. On March 10th, 2021, The house of representatives approved a $1.9 trillion stimulus bill. There are many things that the bill will help with. First, jobless people will get $300 dollars per week until September 6th. Also, until you reach $10,200 dollars in jobless benefits, you will not have to pay any taxes.  Most people who are above the age of 18 will get $1,400 and if you are given it will be checked in the upcoming tax returns. $20 billion dollars will be given to covid vaccines making and $50 billion into testing. $35 billion will be given for utility, rental, and mortgage assistance. $120 billion for schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade. These are some of the key things from the stimulus bill but there were more than said.

The bill passed with a 220-211 margin and with no republican vote. Their reason for voting against it was that the market had already recovered enough, and combined with multiple states opening up had made doing another stimulus a waste of money. I think that they should focus more of that money on making more covid vaccines. Also, they should be not spending too much or else inflation will increase. As GOP Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio said "There is a real risk here, of this kind of massive stimulus overheating the economy."

How much has the Stimulus bill helped your family?

How would you change the Stimulus?

  • Good topic choice Edgar! I do think it could be a tad linger and I would have alos liked to have seen more of your thoughts and opinions.

  • I don't know how much it has helped my family but I know that it has done some things because that is a lot of money that he is sending out. I'm sure that the money has helped a lot of people who are struggling with money problems it may help them pay their bills or any needs that they need to survive. But also giving everyone 1,400$ is a lot of money to give out and there could be a little more saved and gone to help the vaccine.

  • I dont know exactly how much the stimulis bill has helped my family but i know that it is definitly beneficial for my family and im sure it is much more benefical for other families. This bill helps people pay for nessary thing like food and shelter when they have no imcome and help people who need a little bump, so if I were to change anything it would be a larger bill.

  • I don't know how much it helped my family but I know that it helps us with being able to use that money on more bills and etc. I wouldn't change the stimulus bill because it gives each family member 1,400$ and depending on your family that should help you in big ways.

    • I'd say that the stimulus is very important for families to buy things like food and shelter. But I think that a bit more should be put into making the vaccine.

  • The stimulus is a good thing and it helps a lot of peoples families. I also like the facts that some money and most of it is going towards vaccins because now the covid rates will drop.

  • I like that it provides a lot of money for the covid vaccines, because the more people that recieve the vaccine ro decide to get the vaccine then I think that it would lead to the covid rates dropping more and hopefully trying to get back to normal. I think that the testing i also good because then we can find out who has it or who might have it.

  • I like the fact that a lot of the money is going towards the vaccines because if everyone gets vaccinated I think the covid rates will drop significantly. The testing is really good too so hospitals don't have to worry about running out and people who think they just might have the covid can get tested.

    • I agree. testing is one of another ways to slow down the spread of covid. And yes, getting vaccines is a another way to keep ourselves and others safe. My parents got the vaccine, and I hope to get it soon. I do not care about the side effects, I just want everything back to normal.

  • I haven't really seen a difference around the house because of the stimulus but I am sure that it is going towards bills and other needs in the house. But it is good that for every child in the house you get an extra $400 but it really isn't what President Biden had promised while he was running and speaking publicly about. I would change the stimulus to up to $2000 because that would actally do a lot for the families in need because $1000 or $1400 doesnt go very far.
